  • Thanks Ricky!

Just wanted to give a shout out to Ricky who sold me a set of used comp tires for the event...WOW! What a night and day difference they made in the handling and feel of the car! I would've never guessed it would come alive like that, and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner! I also installed a more supportive aftermarket seat the day before the event so the feedback I was getting from the car was an awesome but unexpected rush. I spun around that first big downhill-to-uphill right corner on my first run because I was used to a bit of time between inputs and actual turning with the street tires...not so with comp tires apparently; you turn, they go!
Awesome, the single most fun event I had doing auto-x all year, so stoked, naturally high, and all that!

Now, if we could only hook up Jordan and the McKinnells with some r-comps... that would make things interesting. What size tire does that Celica take?

I love fun runs because I get to experience r-comps Thanks Peter and Lyle! The best size tires for the celica are 205-50/16 or 215-45/16 - both will work... if anyone hears of anything... or 16x6.5 5x100 wheels... I might put something in the "wanted" thread on the forum pretty soon...

You think that was a good time......wait untill you drive on a brand new set .You will feel like "superman for a day".Honestly...Ive never done crack but I can imagine that it is analogous to brand new R-comps.

When I first started autoxing ,I did it much the same as everone else .I started on the same tires I had been daily driving ...continental contacts. That lasted about 2 solos.Got my butt handed to me then I went and wasted my moneyon a set of Azenis. Some faster ...fantastic tire on the street but still not good enough.THEN,I bought a set of Avon tech R's.Immediately I picked up 2 seconds. Then when the tech r was phased out ,I went to the V710 and got another second or so .Point is this ...there are 2 modifications that yield the most results .1)the driver2)TIRES!!!!

I asked myself before I ordered my first set of Rcomps if it was really worth 6-800 dollars to be in the front of the class. After the first run...the answer was a resounding YES.
