  • Local source for magnet sheet

My 82 and S are in good shape, but I need to cut some Cs for 2012.

I didn't see any magnet sheet left in the trailer at the last event. My backup source, Hobby Lobby, didn't have good, old magnet sheet in stock, either - just the printable stuff that can't stand rain.

Anyone know of another local source for magnet sheet in less-than-bulk quantities?

I thought there was still some of the black magnets in the trailer. I know we were out of the white for a while.

Check out Michael's Arts and Crafts. They are in Hoover off of Lorna Rd in the shopping center across from Best Buy. Check in the back left area of the store around where the paint supplies and framing sections are.....

Make sure you get at least 20mil or it will blow off.

I have made a lot of numbers and letters by hand over the past seven years. The easiest way I have come up with it to print the letters/numbers out on paper, cut them out and then trace on to your magnetic sheet. Cutting them out with plain old scissors works pretty well. A Xacto knife does come in handy depending on your font of choice.

Size matters, make sure you make them large enough to be seen and go by the rules.

          E. Numbers must be a minimum of 8” high with a 1.25” stroke. Class
letters must be a minimum of 4” high with a 0.75” stroke. In all cases,
the height of the class letters must be between 25% and 75% of
the height of the numbers. Stroke width must be at least 10% of the
          height

Found it at the Inverness Michael's. Like Hobby Lobby, they keep it near the model car section.
