Thank you to my 'adopted' region

I want to thank the ALSCCA for making a noob foreigner feel very welcome this year. From the Speed South Shootout to the end of the season, I met a lot of great people, made new friends, and found a great rivalry in GS. Mini, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda drivers pushing each other to become better - this is exactly why I started racing.

Kudos, and I'll be back next year!

Awesome year Peter.We claim you as our own.I must confess that I took great pleasue in beating your times because you were a formidable apponent (not that anyone else in GS isnt )but certain regulars in GS at ALSCCA events said to me ...."we cant seem to catch this St Pierre guy ".A small ,small evil part of me said ...oh no he di'nt..... this Atlanta region hotshoe didnt just come into my house and dominate my class while I wasn't looking .I got braindead and did stupid things to the 240 this year that took it out of class ,only to discover that I did exactly what I pointed and laughed at folks for doing...(I made the car slower and uncompetitive)I am glad I woke up and came back to GS because it has been an absolute blast having all of the seesaw battles with you and Jordan and Jamie and all of the rest of the GS folks .Reminds me of the battles I used ot have with Sean Ittner before he went to CP with his mustang .Its been way too much fun.

PS .Sorry Jamie .I never meant to knock you out of the trophys .If I thought I had a shot at doing that before this morning I would have just run the truck and sat it out in GS. Honest injun...I didnt pay any attention to the points because I didnt even expect to place in GS in the top 3 so I didnt pay any attention to the points totals going in .I thought I might have been close to the top 4 but i didnt realize it was that tight.Shoulda looked.

Great event, good course... allowed me to do just what I needed to see if the new gearing works..

The new rear gear ROCKS! Need to adjust the driving style, but the car really squirts now when getting on the gas and no hitting the rev limiter (which was our biggest concern)

I think it's great to have our friends from Atlanta, Huntsville (except Mike C, but he's getting better), and other surrounding regions come play with us on our rallycross/autocross lot! The competetion level is rising quickly, and there are a lot of new drivers rising in leaps and bounds. I hope to see more people trying to go to other region events to try new surfaces, course styles, and different competetion. And I urge everyone to try the intenseness of a National Tour next year (one or 2 of them should be close). It is a pleasure to compete and fellowship with you all.

Peter St Pierre's and MattG's comments certainly confirm what I have always felt about our group. And although the competition level is well beyond me (Matt G, AlanB, Clay, Sean, Chris, and roughly 50% of everyone attending on a given day), the joys of driving, competing, working, meeting new racers, and hanging out are very rewarding. Eric was there and didn't even have a car! He should have co-drove my car- I didn't think about it until I was on my way home. Wait till next year Eric when you get good-n-rusty, then we'll have the showdown!

So thanks to everyone for "making the scene", and now a big round of applause for Ricky Ragan for a JOB WELL DONE this past year. He will tell you it was made much easier by the help he received from the set-up crew, and the tear-down crew, and the sponsors, etc, but I will tell you he took charge from day one, and did a masterful job staying on top of everything and keeping it moving at a proper pace. Ricky is a very good manager, competitor, and motivator. THANKS RICKY.

Well let me chime in here. I just joined SCCA a month or so ago, and everybody has been so great. My first-ever track event was the 10/25 PDX at Little Talladega, and I impulsively did my first Solo the next day. The events are very well put together, and so much fun. Anybody I've asked for help has gone above and beyond. At the 2 solos I've done, folks have been so fantastic about helping newbies - in my case, riding along with me and providing some coaching, and letting me ride with them to show me how it's done.

Sometimes you know how you join a group and you feel like you can't "break in" and find your place in the group? No such thing here! Everybody is so welcoming, and everyone is so good, kind & patient about bringing newcomers in and making us feel welcome. The great programs, the emphasis on safety, the seat time are all awesome, but I can tell you that what will keep me coming back is the camraderie you share, and the very warm welcome I received from the first time I showed up.

I suck with names, and the list would be 5 miles long anyway - I want to give great big thanks to every single one of you who has patiently entertained my newbie questions, and helped me along my way so far. I'm looking forward to next season!

Peter it's been great having you in GS - and getting to drive your car yesterday!! I'm so glad we have many new people joining us! Kathy I'm calling a fun run in your car the next time we have a chance! I'm glad our newcomers have felt welcome at our events. This has been a great year, thanks especially to Ricky and everyone on setup crew, and I've had a great time being a part of the setup crew and getting to know everyone better. Peter, I hope to see you at our ALSCCA banquet (this will be my first one to go to) - and the next time you come to an event, you have to come to the Hooter's gathering afterwards!

Great event, especially for my first time. I had fun and managed to make some improvements on my times, and then I let Sean Yoder drive my car and run a "MUCH" faster time in it than I could...I hope to improve upon my times for next year-but at least he was able to give me some incite on some things I need to do to get it a little more comfortable to drive.

I KNOW you know how! And you were great once you found 2nd. I'm just saying that in those first moments of uncertainty, it dawned on me that I should probably ask that question before I go tossing the keys to virtual strangers.

I have to say it was amusing watching Mike's valiant attempt to pull off from the line in the 911 ... lol. He didn't play out on the course though!
