Mechanical fuel injection, an actual throttle cable, etc. They're practically indestructible, and take mods like champs. Slap a big turbo on, some big injectors, open up the airways, and you've got a 130mph 30mpg cruising monster.M. Cholewa

Hell, you could outfit a Jetta Wagon with a 70+ gallon reserve tank in the back, and have room for plenty of equipment. Getting 30-35 mpg doing 100-110, you could practically make the entire trip on one tank.
I think the key to this test is not how fast you can do it, it's how little time you spend not travelling. Less fuelups means more time covering ground. If he could bump down the 5 fillups to 3, he could shave off probably another hour.M. Cholewa
