We're alright now, but its not over yet. We need to pray for all those who have had damage and possible lost ones. I know Tuscaloosa and Cullman got the worst of it, but Chelsea and Bham got slammed too. Hope everyones alright!

We're okay. There was one person killed this morning about a mile and a half SE of us, but no damage at the Stallings' house.

We are fine. Both of the cells that hit Chelsea missed us. We had some trouble contacting Vince, but we finally found him and all is well.

Still without power, but here are some pictures of damage just a 1/2 mile from my place. Got pretty lucky to miss it

And here's a pic of the tornado as it went passed just north of downtown. I was at UAB in my bldg on the 10th floor so we watched it come and go. It was quite something...

You can see the back side of the tornado pretty clearly. But it was so big and so much rain, you couldn't really see the whole thing

Made it through last night without damage. Thoughts and prayers go out to those and their families that weren't so fortunate.

Alive and well! Our apartment luckily was right on the border of destruction alley from straight line winds, and nothing but some downed leaves.

Here's some pics from yesterday mornings destruction (the tornado didn't even come close, we got some light rain and some wind, but the morning before the tornado was bad).
This first one is the other side of the apartment complex next to mine, our side is completely untouched, their side.... devistated

This is the tree in the last photo, it came down right on top of the power to that apartment complex, poked a hole in someones window, and is just sitting there for now. Theres bigger fish to fry in the neighborhood.

This was a street, but theres about 3 trees down crossing it, along with lots and lots of power lines. I originally went to move my volvo and thought I would drive around and check it out, but then I realized it was too much of a mess so I went out on my bike instead.

Main road into/out of our area, if you're familiar with the Summit, this is directly behind it.

This tree left a 4 foot wide hole in the concrete in a parking lot on the other side. For size reference, this tree is about 6 feet in the air right now, the bottom portion is about 26'' wide, think of a bicycle wheel.

Lots of uproots, that's probably a 9 foot tall section of dirt/roots. The house next to this tree space was not very lucky.

Same tree from the first picture, this is what we woke up to in the morning, we usually walk our dogs between this complex to get to the other side.. You can see the silver poles on the left, those were the tubes holding the power lines.

Glad everyone seems to be ok. We know quite a few friends that have lost there homes, and some lives throughout the state. Probably the most devasting day in the state of Alabama in it's history. Heard a tornado hit Arab, hope Mark Rothermel is ok, and has anybody heard about Gardendale Baptist Church?

I drove through GD last night and the old church was still standing, not sure about the new campus though.

It looks like a new friend of mine from the volvo community got rushed by the storm. Him, his fiancee, and their kids are at the UAB hospital getting patched up, but their house and cars are all gone.

I'm getting a list together of things they will need, so if anyone has some spare clothing, a ride, or anything they are willing to donate, get in touch with me and I'll relay the info to him.

Robert is the guy's name, he actually just moved up here to move in with his Fiancee.

This is what's left of their house

And here's his 240 he was going to turbo in the coming months, about 100 yards away in a ravine.

Hopefully I'll have a list of items by late afternoon and we can start filling it up.

Those pictures really bring home how bad ALL of these storms were last night. Our rental and our house are fine, we were lucky. Our prayers go out to all those that lost loved ones and to those that lost their homes. It will take a long time to pick up the pieces from all of this.

I'll keep checking back for the list, hopefully we can help them out with some donations.

                            Clothing list:

Boys: size 12 slim jeans/pants, 12-14 shirts, size 6 shoes
                            Girls: 12 slim jeans/pants, 10-12 shirts, size 6 shoes
Womens: size 8 pants, medium shirt, size 6 shoe
Mens: 34/30 pants, large shirts, size 9 shoes

                            Socks, underwear, etc also needed.

If you guys have anything, it will be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what's going on with their housing situation for the time being, but they got it with the clothes on their backs and will need that more than anything right now.

I made it ok . Just a couple sections of fencing down and some roof shingles ripped off. Lots of debris from trees everywhere. The garbage can is DOA. All of this happened yesterday morning . Still no power. They are talking about May 1st before I get juice so for now I guess its generator power . I feel fortunate after seeing all of the destruction people are dealing with that were hit hard.
