  • School me on torrents...

I am sick and tired of SPEED showing craptastic NASCAR 20 hrs a day. I want REAL sportscar racing and I want it in a timely manner. A week or two late? I can handle that. Showing the season AFTER its already complete, no thanks!!! DTM, GT1, GT3, WTC, VLN. There are a TON of great racing series that we don't get. Or only get after the season is already half way through.

    So....

I see that you can download torrents and then you have to have a player to watch the files. I see all these sites to download stuff, but they look sketchy as hell and I don't want to download a bunch or crap and then f-up my computer.

Any of you internet-genuises care to shed some light and what are good/trusted sites to download some of these races? Any good quality players I should look for?

VLC media player is the only player you will ever need.

As far as torrents go. I use uTorrent as my client after azerus got bloated and janky. There's a good bit of info out there on which torrent clients are best, but I like utorrent, it's unobtrusive and works well.

For websites, ISOhunt.com is a great place to start your search as well as thepiratebay.org and torrentz.com.

I would hop on to a racing board with some overseas members and see if any of them host content on a weekly basis for download. TB had a UK guy host top gear every week for one week, password protected and all that jazz, it was pretty awesome. I remember there being another site floating around that would upload WRC events after they aired so you could keep up with them too. I'm sure there are some good file share folks into racing. Just keep an eye out, and if something seems fishy, it most definitely is fishy and will probably give you a virus.

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

I also use uTorrent and Pirate Bay. On Pirate Bay, be sure to click the small link that says "Download this Torrent" and not the huge DOWNLOAD buttons on ads and you're fine. Also, watch your file sizes and DL smart. A 2 hour race won't be 12kb.

What they said, and if you do end up messing your computer up, give me a call so I can fix it and make a buck.

Here's a less-controversial option that I'm too cheap to sign up for, even though it's available on my Roku and only costs 5 bucks a month or less - http://racefanstv.com/ .

Some of their content looks interesting. I just don't watch much TV. I'd rather be at some race track.

I use BitComet as my torrent client and I usually download from BTjunkie. I watch everything using a Western Digital media player. It hooks right up to your tv through component or HDMI cables and has usb inputs. VLC is excellent if you watch on your puter.
