  • My spring break

I know almost all of you have enjoyed the Dragons Tail but me. Well not anymore. I drove out of my aunt and Uncles driveway in Hixson Tn.(free bed and breakfast) and headed up I-75 to Cleveland where I meandered onto Hwy 74 and proceded to travel the back way to the tail. Great scenic roads especially Ducktown(didnt see a single one). Couple of quacks, thats it. Proceded to get behind two 18 wheelers as soon as it went to 2 lanes. Figures. Actually they were as fast as i went in the TnT the other day. But finally got around them only to find in 3 or 4 miles that a bridge was down to one lane and also had a BRAND NEW Volvo wagon burning to a crisp, on my side of the road about two hundred yards past thatebridge. Of course, after that every little scent was exagerated to me. Anyway, top down and bundled I Made my way along til I became famished, entered into NC where i whizzed past a little place named Rib Country. OK I had never had NC BBQ before so I did a uturn and zipped up to the parking lot. Not expecting a great deal I was greated by , It had to be last years MISS NC the, cutest Blond that assured me that NC BBQ was the best. Sure. My Waitress the Miss NC of 2009, brought me a helping of BBQ, sauce on the side, as well as a lovely Cole slaw, sweet with just the right amount of mayo, a bowl of baked beans (perfect), and those fries(refuse to give the French credit for them) just right. OH MY. That is all I can say. If you havent been there. Well, go there. Headed out completely satisfied with my tummy smiling, began to think about all those curves, but put the queasy thoughts in the back of my mind and found Hwy 129. So close, i began to get excited and remembered seeing all those idiots on Youtube and thought, not me. Got to the dam took a few pics and chatted with a guy in a very nice moded S2000 headed south(not a loud one). Hopped in, arrived at the PLACE!. Me and 2 bikes. Took a few pics , bought t-shirts for g-kids. A couple on a Harley from Iowa too a pic of me. As they did an white M3 drove in parked and sat for a few moments. Then he drove 0ff headed north for the tail. I finished putting my trusty Nikon away and thought "Lets see if I can catch him and see what happens". The road was empty and I did, and he apparently was amused that i did. So, he went faster. And not to be out done so did I(I know I am slow but I kept up and was close all the way). I slowed and would catch him again. I did this about 3 times. This was the most FUNNNNNNNN I have ever had , well almost. In a car anyway. Getting close to the end he pulled off to a Over look on the left and as I slowed to stop a lovely young women bailed out of the passenger side and staggered to the over look wall with a greenish(no pun intended) tint to her face. As i came to a stop her husband also got out bringing with him a dog on a leash. As I chatted with her hushand she became flesh colored again and joined in the conversation. The guy was a experienced autocrosser and had has several trips to Nashvilles' road track and assured me that he and his dog enjoyed the competion. His wife not so much, but appparant the dog was the veteran of several Tail runs. She seemed fine. OK. Great Scenery, great day, great food, meet a great couple, got a t-shirt. Oh yeah, alll with the top down on a 75% chance of rain day. Awesummmmmm!!! I hope you will forgive the type O's I did this late, but had so share. So if you weren't bored, that is how I spent my Spring Break. Who needs the Beach.
