This forum is primarily birmingham, Huntsville's main site is www.teamtac.org i believe.

Come out to the october 26th event, if you don't want to drive, ride along with some people to see if it's something you want to do. Or just drive, and let some pro's ride with you to give you some pointers.

Huntsville, Twickingham Auto Club, has an event on Saturday at John Hunt Park. Get there about 8:00 or 8:30 AM and introduce yourselves.

        Welcome Prelude2nr

Not one of us that started autocross came into it with any experience other than regular street driving and the occasional stupid moves preceded by a "Hey y'all watch this".

Come out and have fun and learn some really cool things you probably didn't know your car could or would do.

I'm the tech inspection guy at the Bham events. You will need to come see me after you register for the event so we can make sure you car is ready for the fun.

i.e. loosen your lug nuts, remove your battery, and make sure to disconnect your foot brake so it doesnt pump up when pushed.

Download this book; it will answer most of you dumb questions.

yeah im gonna get involved with TAC and stuff up here but this seems to be the bigger one and just wanted to get to know everyone and race as much as i can to improve

but yeah ill make sure i loosen the lugs so the wheels can move with the road better right??? and take the battery out for weight reduction... that work out nice...

come on now i meant dumb questions about actually racing but yeah i got a nice big book on it so it maybe just be asking stupid questions at the track

First, no questions are dumb. Ask away and you will be pleased that so many others will be happy to show what they have learned. TAC has a novice instructor, Mark Strong, who will help as much as possible.

Second, enjoy the event. I'm still amazed at how far I will drive for 5 minutes of autocross time. It's not the driving but the people I meet.

he's not lying either, considering how bad he is at racing (his little boy drives faster than he does) it really is about the people and friendships. It's like a fraternity, except it's fun.

actually that is one of the things i love most about autox it really is not that expensive if you dont let it be. the best mod for this sport is YOU! you would be supprised at the cars that some of our fastedst drivers race. this sport is very dependent on the driver and not how much money you have thrown into your car. of course mods help but if you can't get everything out of your car than it won't matter.

i wont be at our last event going out of the country (YES!!!) so hope you and your friends enjoy and hopefully come back next year!
