  • Does your car have a name?

If your car has a name (besides what its maker gave it), what is it and how did it earn it?

My Focus's name is Thumper. As I found out the first time put stickier-than-stock tires on it, stock Focus suspension isn't great at handling rough treatment. A hard shift into second would generate enough wheel hop and engine flop that my car sounded like an angry rabbit slapping feet.

My mods have pretty much eliminated that behavior, but the name is still around until the car earns something else.

Mine is definitely a girl, but I haven't found a name yet. Nothing seems to fit ... I think she's beyond simple things like "names."

I never could think of a good name for my Evo's so I just call mine my baby.

The wagon of course is named The Black Pearl which I think suits her well considering what I'm going to be doing with her.

I've recently named C's Evo Beastie. With that crazy loud exhaust and the power, it works.

The focus in named Katy because she attracts Katy-dids. The name fits her personality, but doesn't get used too often. Since meetings Matt's wife, it's just about never used anymore.

The Lady Thelma Dilemma shouldn't need an explanation. Grandma car with a complex, but not entirely reliable. Sometimes she's just Lady, but sometimes she shows her age and I call her Thelma.

That's nice. Get the reliability factor fixed and maybe she'll get upgraded to Lady Thelma, Dirt-slinger.

Ha. I think we all know my car's name. FOXY She even has her own mascot, the beanie baby fox that sits on the dash.

I named her that because I was 18 when I got her and I liked the name Foxy.

I have never been one to give names to inanimate objects but I do call my blue Miata "the blue car" and the red one "the red car" we also have "Amy's car" and "the truck", rarely are they called Miata, Accord or F150 so I guess it is kind of the same. I don't know what I would do if I had two Miatas the same color.

I'm not one to give names to cars but so many folks called the red/wht/blue RX-7 "Captain America" (it's for sale) that I've even been known to call it that. The RX-7 that I rallycross was called the "multi-color car" because it had a white bumper, primered fender, and a different shade of red on the hood. I rattle canned what you see now and I call it the "RallyX-7". Then there's the "blk/wht RX-7" that I bought new in '84, the "wide body RX-7" or "Mariah" (actual name of car), the "Mustang", the "Miata" and the "truck."

I named my first car "Elizabeth" 1971 Triumph Spitfire.
And now my latest Rallycross car "Rusty" 1976 BMW you can probably guess why!
                          That's the only two!

There have been so many "Mustang"-s in this house that they are not discernible by common descriptions. There are currently 2 convertibles. There have been 3 blue ones, and 2 white ones, which overlapped in a complicated time line. The "old" or "classic one" certainly doesn't cut it, and "new" is equally vague. When Dad's brother comes to visit with any of his collection of Mustangs, it's even harder to manage. Things as specific as "Mach 1" lose clarity. When all else fails, we call them by model year, but there are multiple 05 Fords that live here, too.
Oddly enough, the only ever fox body car here isn't even a Mustang.
