  • Gas Shortage?

How's the gas situation in Birmingham? It's nearly impossible to find premium here in Atlanta, and my car requires it when driven hard. I'm hoping to see things change by the end of the week, but may not attend this event if I can't find enough gas to get home.

Plenty of everything here in Pelham. Even 2 Shells still refusing to add any ethanol!

This is the first I've heard of a gas shortage! How'd that happen?

Exactly! Here in Atlanta it's been horrible.....and having the Internet and cell phones doesn't help.. it just fuels the panic.

"OMG, there may not be any more gas ever, I better top up and put those three gallons in.."

You had stations where a tanker load would last for days normally, lately it might last 4 hours. Lines of up to a mile long... Think of it this way, say you have 100 stations that see 10 cars an hour. Now you have 2 stations to deal with those same 1000 cars, or more due to the panic.

Supposedly, now that the pipeline is flowing at pre-hurricane levels it will be getting better over the next few days...

I've only seen one Shell that was out of regular, but I drove 1/4 mile away to another Shell and they not only had gas, it was 10 cents cheaper!

Yeah, B'Ham is much better off. Atlanta has 4 million people all trying to keep their cars at F. It's rediculous ... especially since there was barely anything to worry about to begin with ... that is until people formed mobs at pillaged the stations before Ike hit.

Sooooo...everybody filled their tanks and STAYED in Atlanta?!
I thought the point was to fill your tank so you could get away from the hurricane, not so you'd have a full tank sitting in your car in the driveway.
I guess coming from Florida news of a hurricane doesn't cause that big of a panic for me!
Montgomery has gas all over, most around $3.77ish a gallon for reg.

Premium is a little hard to come by at some places Ive seen around Bham (I dont have any vehicles that require it)but gas is readily available everywhere I frequent...no line no waiting.

Seems like most stations near the interstate have gas. Some of the ones off a few miles seem to only have regular or randomly have any. I know in Odenville all they have is regular.

gas situation is driving me CRAZY here in anniston/oxford area. you can now find regular if you drive around a bit. i would say about half the gas stations are completely out and the other half have regular. the first week after the hurrican almost every gas station was out.

now finding 93, which is what my girl requires from factory, is another matter. i have family and friends on the look out for it! and when a station gets it (not that often and hardly ever the same one) it doesnt last more than a day! i drove all over town looking yesterday and couldn't find any. i've been filling up in gadsden or talladega when i need it.

hopefully there will be some near autox on sunday so i can refuel.

There is 93 near me if you need it ... a little out of the way from auto-x, but you are welcome to crash at my place if you don't want to make the trip twice this weekend. Let me know.
