SA2005 is the latest, and is good for anything in cars, basically.

You'll risk being obsoleted in a year or two for the top-level events, but it'll be good for at least 5-6 more years for Solo, RallyX and many track day (generally non-comp or non-high-speed) events.

    YMMV, RTFRB, etc.

Shea, it seems that it is almost a year later when they start selling the newly rated hats. In the meantime you can usually get great deals on the 05's. By the time the 05's time is done you'll probably be looking for a new one anyways.

the M2010 is already out from what I know. The SA2010 is due early 2010. But, I haven't tracked this in the past. This is based mainly on what Erik (Focus) has told me. He did a bit of research on it last month or so and would have good input.

You can usually go to a motorsports store, or go online, and order whichever helmet looks nice from their catalog.

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

You'll probably find MUCH better prices online than in a store. M2010 came out in a few months ago, and SA2010 is currently scheduled for October 1, 2010. They may be for sale before that, but that's the date Snell is giving. The Club Racing rules for 2009 allowed SA2005 and SA2000, so 2005s will likely still be acceptable until 2015. That covers you for TT and track days. Solo allows two backdates and SA or M rated helmets, so it's really only a concern for loaners.

Why do I keep racing these weird cars?
Why can't I just get a miata and be happy?

My SA2000 is out for 2010, so I'm going to have to purchase an SA2005. A few years ago it was said that a full face helmet and operational airbags don't go together (broken jaws). Don't have an airbag now so the safest helmet is a full face. Have been looking for about 6 months and I like the Bell, and most places on line have them for $259 with free shipping. Also liked the G-Force, but you need to make sure it is Hans acceptable, or accepts another brand of restraint, in case it becomes mandatory for the new restraint systems. Hope that helps.

The SA2005s should be good until 2015 for club racing, maybe longer for solo, etc.

My son got a G-Force this year. It had the inserts for the HANS installed. We still have to buy the posts, but at least the labor has been done.

There is a lot of guesswork and conjecture, in this thread, including my previous comments. I'm almost sure some of what's in this thread is wrong. It's probably a good idea to wait and see what the 2010 GCR says. What it says there will apply for Club Racing, and will answer the original question.

I liked black helmets until I bought one and tried to live with it. Too hot! Actually it was so hot it fried my brain and so now I don't drive as fast as I used to. But now I have a white one and it is MUCH cooler!

I haven't really had any issues with the black helmet, but I guess having a roof over my head makes a huge difference too.
