  • So I havent been around in a while...

For a couple reasons. Firstmost probably being my clutch slave cylinder going out and then my radiator going out last week. These two things have not made the wifey happy. So she wants me to get a newer car, as in under 45k on the clock, under $15k, four seats, and two or four doors.
Now I want to get an opinion on a few cars, and I know people are going to say its up to me but i like hearing other peoples thoughts, especially when they have more experience driving "enthusiastically" than I.
Have found and 06 mustang gt for 15. 06 WRX for 15, and then multiple other cars including Mazda 3's, not hatch or Speed versions, one mazdaspeed3, Jetta gli, Tiburon gtV6, and a few SE-R's.

Now the wife does really like the mustang, and i love V8's, but how much fun are they at autoX? She is kind of against the WRX, for what reason i dont know, even though its more practical.
Is there another car I am missing? Yes RX-8 is a thought, although there are no dealers within 75 miles so if the core goes, I will probably get boned.
Thanks for your time yet again.

The WRX is going to be the smallest headache in the long run. But while you're at it, you can pick up an MKV jetta/rabbit or even a gti/gli for around what you're looking at, and they rock pretty hard. Used 07's are in the 12 range for jetta/rabbits and 14's for gti/glis. Just a thought.

Oh and since you looked at WRXs you might as well look at an Evo. there are a few out there for 15kish. very reliable and SUPER fun. i also love the VWs too. not big on a mustange but it is to autoxable too.

      me thoughts.

I have been trying to find some EVO's on autotrader with 45k or less miles, and havent found much. Is there a better place to look?

oh sorry forgot you said lower than 45k, yes that is a bit more difficult. if they have low miles then they want more money but let me look around a little. another issue is there are not many around here so you might have to travel a little. i had to go to Tampa FL to get my blue baby.

There was a yellow EVO at Royal Automart in Vestavia/Hoover. I think it's on Autotrader.com

I was daydreaming after driving Sara's car at the last AutoX

WOW..so many to choice! I would definitly look @ EVO's & WRX's. Remember the abuse factor when looking for a few years old & under 45k. Make sure you try and buy 1 owner vehicles(helps with car history). EVO's are pretty much bulletproof & look for 04-05 WRX's. Fly-by-wire was new in 06 and its freaking wacky when you factor the tuning side. Another is the MAZDASPEED3 & Mini Cooper S, both are the best "BANG for the BUCK". If your looking for V8 power but wife doesnt like the Mustang, then look @ the Pontiac GTO. You can find them cheap with good mileages because of Pontiac being gone. Holden(Australia) is the same vehicle & they still make & sell aftermarket goodies for them. Tough choice bro. If I was in the market for a newer used car I would seriouly look @ these....Good Luck...

The answer to all automotive questions is Miata. You will have to buy two to fulfill you requirements but you won't be the first to buy more than one.

i do miss my yellow girl. not too many miles which is good. would give it a good test drive and looking over. these cars are usually not drivin gently but they are tough.

You could get an Odyssey. They carry lots of people and make a great track or autocross car. Also you can beat the crap out of it and it will keep running. One last thing, chicks dig it.

There is something very self satisfying about running down third gen Supras, Vipers, Mustangs and Corvettes in an Odyssey . I highly recommend it!
