I am sorry to report that Rich Shafer, our fellow racer, sponsor, supporter, and friend, succumbed to injuries he sustained as a result of an accident Saturday at turn 3 of the Crow Mountain Hillclimb. This terrible accident's cause is unknown at this time and speculation is only that.. After he was extracted from the car, he was flown to a Chattanooga-area hospital where the extent of his injuries proved to be too much. His family and some close friends were able to be with him at the hospital when he passed.
We are all extremely shocked and saddened by what happened. Our prayers go out to the Shafer family. Rich will be dearly missed. He was doing something that we all know he loved very much. Words do not begin to express our grief.
