Is anyone heading north for this event? I'm very tempted and think I just might.

I just ran CMP in my first Lemons race at CMP. Fun track. Very rough on left front tires though. Run more camber on that corner if you can and higher pressure.

Paddock space is exclusively sandy grass, so be prepared. You'll need something to put under your floorjack and jackstands.

I have a tip on a clean inexpensive hotel if you need one. They don't do online reservations and I actually had to fill out a paper form at check-in. It was "quaint"

Ah yes lodging tips are always welcome, or at least the kids appreciate them.

is the track harder on tires than TGPR?

What kind of top speeds were you seeing on the straights?

The hotel is the Colony Inn in Camden. Just an inexpensive clean little hotel. No frills. Our stay was $69/nt. Claims to have wifi but I couldn't make it work.

No, not harder than TGPR. We wore the left front to the belts on Saturday but that was with about 5 hours of track time. Higher pressure on that corner seemed to help on Sunday. Our car is camber limited at the moment.

Top speeds?? No idea. It's a lemons car. For this race we had neither a functional speedometer nor a trustworthy fuel gauge

I can't help but smile when I read things like that. I only ask because I'm currently shopping around looking at different gear ratios for my car. As a side note if you know anybody with any Toyota 8 bolt gears I'm in the market.

I can get about 10 mph faster at CMP than at TGPR. Without a speedometer, that is a bit of a guess by looking at the RPM

Thank you for the comparison. Sadly I won't have my new gear set till after this event.

Also I'm bringing Hallie along with her kart. I emailed the track officials and they said the kart track would be open that weekend as well so we'll get her some practice time in too.

I will second Colony Inn...nothing fancy but clean. They have had a different restaurant next door it seems so I can't tell you what is going on now. They did have a breakfast nook area in the back of the hotel that wasn't bad.

No breakfast included when we were there last month, but the restaurant behind the hotel is open early (we didn't try it though) and there are fast food choices near the hotel on the way to the track.

Good luck, go fast, & have fun!
