Unless something changed this year, this is incorrect. 2-piece suits are fine as long as they meet the other requirements. I use a 2-piece. I would buy a 1 piece if I was buying a new one however. 2-pieces are bulky around the waist where the jacket must overlap the pants. Brandon's car is tight on space so I would recommend a 1 piece.Rod H

You can use the 2 peice in TT. My use of the word "needs" was in no way an implication that a 1 peice was required by SCCA for TT.Originally posted by rodhx View PostUnless something changed this year, this is incorrect. 2-piece suits are fine as long as they meet the other requirements. Per the rules regarding drivers suits:
Driving suits must carry FIA standards (8856-1986 or 8856-2000) or SFI 3-2A/5 or higher (e.g., /10, /15, /20) certification; Suits carrying SFI 3-2A/1 certification may be worn only with fire resistant underwear;Last edited by JohnW8; 02-27-2016, 05:41 PM.John W8

Thank you for the very helpful tip! I'm still on the fence right now whether I want to spend all the money on nomex safety gear or one extra day at the track this year. Decisions decisions.....Originally posted by DelanieC View PostCheck the Gforce eBay store. That's where I got my suit. http://stores.ebay.com/G-FORCE-Outlet-StoreBrandon Roberts

I really appreciate the offer, however if I'm going to step up to TT I've got to get my own sooner or later anyway. Just trying to check everything off the list at this point. I just ordered me a one piece three layer suit (SFI 3.2A/5), nomex gloves, nomex socks, driving shoes (SFI 3.3/5), keeping the same helmet, same arm restraints, neck brace (SFI 3.3), two new 6 point harnesses (SFI 16.1), and I've got to work out where to mount my fire extinguisher. I have two spares sitting in the garage, is there rule stating where I have to mount it? I figure I can mount it to the floor pan on the passenger side of the car where its within reach. Also, all of you guys have been extremely helpful, thank you. If there's anything in this is that looks concerning just let me know.Originally posted by JohnW8 View PostI have a spare 1-peice drivers suit (size 58) and Gloves (Large). On my Miata, a simple plate bracket that connects to the front two bolts of the passenger seat works quite well for the extinguisher mount. Tucks nicely at front of seat where a passengers legs (when you have one) goes over. I've seen several designs with an internet search, I can post a pic of mine if you want.Tony Ewing

Thanks for the input. I'll probably just put it on the passenger floor in front of the seat. It was mounted there before put new floor plans in the car.Brandon Roberts

I made me a fancy smancy fire extinguisher holdler out of aluminum. Its got two straps and a quick release. Quick question, does TGPR use mylaps transponders? If so I assume this would be the correct one to purcahse http://www.mylaps.com/en/products/x2...onder-car/1622. Once again thank you for your time guys.Brandon Roberts

Fire extinguisher holders should be made out of metal. I would be a bit skeptical about using Aluminum unless you built it significantly stronger. The question you have to ask yourself is: "if I do a hard crash, will the holder keep the fire extinguisher secure?"

Here is a rendering from Solidworks. I don't have a picture of the actual mount, it's at work on my tool box right now. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_J...ew?usp=sharing
The weakest component is the aluminum and it has a yield strength of 35,000 PSI and is held together with C37 bolts, 170,000 PSI tinsel strength. The aluminum is 1/2" thick. Seems plenty sturdy to me for a 3 lb fire extinguisher but of course I'll let you guys be the judge. If this doesn't look acceptable just let me know and I'll work out something different. Thanks for the reply Craig, I want to get everything I can taken care of in advance to make for a smooth weekend.Brandon Roberts
