Actually Cage, you can go to any track event as a novice, it's only hill climbs that don't allow novices. We'll have a novice class at the Nashville Superspeedway event in May, do well at it and you could possibly get signed off for your license there depending on your performance.

Level 3 track trials requirements. 4 point Roll bar, 2.5lb Fire Bottle, Window net -OR- Arm restraints and minimum 5 point harness and personal safety equipment of a fire suit, Nomex socks, Gloves and leather or nomex shoes covering the foot up to the ankle and a SA-00 rated helmet or newer. If you have a beard or 'stache you also need to get a nomex head sock. Your car would need to be "log booked" that can be done Friday evening at the track or can be handled before the event by Rich Crowell of Tennessee Valley Region.

As for the driver, you'd need to fill out your Novice application and the Medical History portion of the Medical form and bring it to the school. The entry form will also need to be filled out and sent to Craig Farr with a check for the entry & school fee. The various forms needed can be found on our home page. http://alscca.org/

It sounds like a lot but it really isn't. All the safety gear can be purchased at Saferacer.com or Discovery Parts.com. The Rollbar can be put in at Kirk Racing in Mount Olive or VanCleef Racing in Huntsville and the rest is filling out paper work.

    C'mon out and play!

Drivers planning on competing at the April TT may be asked to be an instructor for a student driver. I'd rather not wait til the last minute to see if we have enough instructors for the students so please indicate on your entry form, or on this forum, if you'd volunteer some of your time over the weekend to help a new driver. All you have to do is watch their line on course and provide feedback to help them progress. You will report to the Chief Driving Instructor at the event to discuss the students performance throughout the weekend so evaluations can be made. We need the volunteers. Step up!

    Thanks,

I have been meaning to ask someone about this event; I want to run as many TT/PDX events this year as a can, but it is doubtful that I will be able to afford prepping my car with the necessary safety equipment in time for the school. I start full time work this week which is about 3 weeks later than I expected, so the timing probably wont work out.

I was wondering if anyone would be up for letting me co-drive with them. I would expect to meet the typical requirements of co-driving; covering your event entry fees, splitting tire bills, and general slave labor getting the car ready. Most of you know me from AutoX so you know that I can be trusted, heh. For those that do both forms of Solo, I wouldn't mind testing the idea out at an AutoX just to get used to the car as well. I am up for any arrangement, but may just need the help for the school since it is really my only option for getting licensed and competing this year.

If anyone is interested, post, PM, text or call me - easy way to slip by a few entry fees this year!

Got pictures? What engine? There is a pretty good DSR forum with a lot of guys who have been doing DSRs for years. sports.racer.net

It will be different than anything you have ever driven. But twice the fun.

SOmeone with a DSR and a FD??? There are two of us out there? WOW!

If you also have a track ready Miata, then that would be a match.

OK, what DSR do you have? Mine is a 1998 AMAC.

DSR ----- You've got all Craigs hairs standing up and his knees trembling for the anticipation. Will ask for Craig what type of DSR? 1 word ----- 'competition'. Oh yeah.

Well it'll actually be a DSR as long as it's ready by then, which I believe has a SCCA RR logbook already. So I guess all it would need to do is pass tech as I have the other stuff.

Was actually going to go to RR last weekend, but it wasn't anywhere close to ready so I'm shooting for next year.

I'm actually going to try and quit tracking the FD, now wheater that happens or not is a different story.
