  • Barber TT

Much has been written about the TT Passing rules as they relate to Barber. Those speaking have had good comments but they still are only a few folks on both the TVR and ALSCCA Forums.

After doing a very quick redistribution of TTA and TTC to put the RR drivers in TTA and the TT drivers in TTC, here are the results.

Sat TTA would have had 26 cars. Sat TTC would have had 12. Sunday was 8 in TTA and 5 in TTC. 2 Driver TT cars would still have had to run one driver in TTA. The overall entry levels do not support adding a 4th TT group.

On Sunday, I would have combined TTA and TTC just because of the low numbers which we do for our TT events anyway.

TTB (formula cars, SRF, etc) would have had to be a mixed bag of RR and TT.

With all RR, TTA could have had completely open passing rules. TTC would have had some form of passing rules. TTB passing rules would have to be worked out based on the actual make-up of the group. Combining TTA and TTC on Sunday would revert to the TT passing rules which might cause a bit of an issue.

This sort of separation of RR and TT drivers does appear feasible. More work is needed on it.

I wonder if it would help to set grid positions for the first session by previous years' results (or even earlier results at other venues?)

Also, I wonder if a pace car on the out lap would help to provide a bit of open track for the faster cars?

Looked at that but there were too many (>67%) new drivers in TT for it to work.

We weren't gridded up by times in the second session and on either.

I personally didn't have any problems related to the new passing rules. Whenever someone was close enough to pass I was pointing them by anyway.

Thanks! I was lucky Tony didn't get any more dry runs.
