  • 2013 Annual Tech Inspections

Unfortunately, time is not on our side and we will not be able to have the annual tech inspections for TT and Club Racing cars at Element Garage this year. If you need an annual tech (not a logbook, just an annual tech) you are invited to go to Huntsville this Sunday, March 24th, 2013 and get your annual tech done by Rich Crowell or Mark Rothermel. A thread is currently up at their website here

Sorry that we couldn't get this together down in Birmingham again. Remember that if you don't get this done before TGPR, then you need to make plans to get to TGPR Friday ASAP so that you can get your car tech'd.

Define Friday ASAP. I've got to have a logbook and get my first tech. What time do you suggest getting there?

Gates open at 5:00pm Friday, so I would say 5:00pm. Since your car is basically "stock" and you're running in a Solo class, BSP, your car won't have quite as much stuff to be checked and looked over, etc. But it will still probably take 45 min to an hour I'm guessing. I say 5:00 because you'll want to get to the front of the line as best you can. If each car takes around an hour to logbook, and there's 4-5 cars, well not all of them are going to get done that night probably. So its best if you're the first or second car so you have less to worry about and you'll be good to go come Saturday morning!

Gotcha. Being first or second is especially important since I will not be spending the night there, so I REALLY didn't want to have to go on Friday.

I'm heading up to Huntsville on Sunday for the tech session. Leaving here at around 8:00am in case anyone wants to caravan.

If you're planning to participate in the Time trial at TGPR these tech events really help speed things up. Friday night before the event at the track is NOT a good time to find out you need to make corrections to your car. Rich, Mark and Craig will be available to do inspections but you are left with little to no time to make any repairs that may be caught during the inspection process. Scheduling issues have prevented us from having a annual tech inspection session locally as in years past so this is your opportunity to get your annual inspection and Huntsville isn't that far away.

            Don't miss it!

The original post in this thread says logbooks aren't available this weekend anyway so I'm stuck with going to the track on Friday. Not sure I can get the seat & harness installed in time anyway.

Thanks Rod. Not issuing logbooks at this event seems odd. New logbooks take the most time and like I said, not something you wait til the last minute to get done since it eliminates any time before the event to fix or repair any issue that may come up.

We will issue logbooks if needed to any car ready this weekend. While we can't help the weather we will try to take care of business early. There is a fee for the logbook and bring your safety equipment (helmet, socks, suit. etc).
Any region whichs conducts RR or TT should get people interested in being a scrutineer (as well as other licenses). It does take some learning and some work but it is necessary and gets you a ticket to see the machines up close and such.

That's my bad. On the TVR forums the thread says those needing an annual tech can come get it. Since it didn't say anything about logbooks I assumed it was just annuals. If you can make it up there Rod, it would be a good time. You'll need the car ready plus all of your safety gear.

RIch is usually there most of Saturday so it is possible. Let us know if you intend on being there
