              Propesed rules for Bimmer Shootout

Any good, fun competition needs rules, so here's what I've come up with. These are, of course, up for discussion and should be amended and adopted before the Barber race.

              *****

EVENT: The Bimmer Shootout will be run concurrently with the SCCA Club Race and Time Trial at Barber Motorsports Park on 8/31/13-9/1/13.

              I. The competition will be based on individual lap times recorded by Timing and Scoring. Any lap made by an eligible driver in an eligible car can be considered for the competition. The Drivers who record the fastest lap times over the course of the weekend will be the Winners.

II. Any driver wishing to enter the event must register before turning a wheel on track. There will be an entry sheet at Registration. The Driver must remit $20 at time of registration to be eligible.

              DRIVERS:

              I. Any Driver that is eligible to compete in SCCA Club Racing or Time Trial events is eligible to register for the Bimmer Shootout.

              VEHICLES:

              I. Any vehicle competing over the course of the weekend is eligible provided it meets the other requirements set forth herein.

II. Vehicle's body and chassis must originally be a BMW production vehicle. Modifications allowed by GCR and/or TT Rule Book class are allowed.

III. Vehicle must be powered by a BMW production engine. Modifications allowed by GCR and/or TT Rule Book class are allowed.

IV. Any vehicle Disqualified from regular competition will be disqualified from the Shootout.

              PRIZES:

              I. All entrants will remit $20 to create a "Pot".

II. Any region or sponsor may add additional funds to the "Pot" at their desire.

III. The "Pot" will be split among the winners as follows: 1st place 60%, 2nd place 30%, 3rd place 10%.

              GRIEVANCES:

              I. Any competitor wishing to file a protest can suck-it. This is supposed to be fun.

              #####

              Edits are in red.

Recommendations for additions or revisions are welcome.

Item III...IT cars will also run, so rule should read "TT or IT prepared cars"

The way it's written, all GCR classes are eligible. Are you requesting language to specifically include IT classes, or exclude other classes?

Casey, if you want to include all GCR classes, drop the "TT" and just say GCR. The IT and TT rulesets are different, as are the production, etc.

Do we need to reference the "this is supposed to be fun" clause already?

That would be covered under: Grievances, I

Chuck, I updated the rules to hopefully make it more clear.

If anyone thinks we need to specifically exclude a TT or club race class we can add an exclusions list. My intent is to keep it simple and include anyone who is interested.

Works for me...GCR covers all classes but there are supplemental rule books for some classes.

The GCR covers all club race classes. All GCR classes are allowed and referenced by the TT rule book, but there are additional TT classes not recognized by the GCR. Hence, I included verbiage for both.
