  • In prep for TT school

I am making an attempt to get a car ready for April but have a few questions for getting me ready first.

Concerning the medical part, I am diabetic type 2, does this require an exam by a DR.? If so does this get sent to Topeka?

When does the novice permit need to be turned in by?

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

To get a TT license you do need to get a physical and the form signed by your Doctor and sent in with your license application to Topeka.

I believe you can run as a apply for a Novice license then get signed off by the Divisional Steward (Steve Tompkins) or Chief Instructor after successfully completing the school, then reapply for a license upgrade. If it's done within 90 days you don't have to pay another licensing fee. Apply for your TT Novice license in early March. That'll give you plenty of time.

Thanks Guys. I'll have many more questions as I progress toward this. Of course it all really depends on having the car ready, which will be a challenge.

        Thanks again,
        Jimmy

From personal experience, go ahead and call Topeka and have s specific person to talk with. They were very helpful with me since I had to fax many a document back and forth.

Thanks for the info, I almost have the car ready for a cage and will see how much time is left. If not this year then maybe next year.

So they approved you to race after the sex-change procedure?

I guess it is according to where you put all the new parts.

Let me answer in SCCA fashion. Yes and No. Depending on how you read the rules. You can run as a novice w/o a physical on file but completed but once you get signed off, and I'm sure you will, you'll send in your novice license for upgrade to full license at which time you'll need to have the physical on file. Confused?

I need to find out about this one myself.

On the back of the Time Trial License Application is a bit of info about the Novice Time Trial License and medical exam requirements.

FOR A NOVICE TIME TRIAL LICENSE
You need to fill out the License Application AND submit a current SCCA medical form with ONLY the Medical history portion completed and sign it.

ONCE YOU UPGRADE TO A FULL LICENSE
You need to submit an upgrade license application signed by the Divisional TT Steward and a current SCCA medical form completed and signed by you and your Physician. Upgrade within 90 days of original license and there is no additional fee. Woo hoo!

So to answer Ricky's question, NO, you DO NOT have to have a physical on record with SCCA National in order to attend the TT School. You only have to have the Medical History portion filled out and sent in with your application.

                              Jimmy,

Fill out your license application and the Medical History Portion and bring it to the school with you. Once you complete the school with flying colors, I have faith, the Chief Instructor will sign off on the application then you can send it in with your Doctors signed physical exam form to get a full license.

You will also want to get the logbook for your car done before the event. It's not required to have it done before, it's just easier then waiting in line for the tech inspector the night before the event.

                              See you in April!
