Sad news!!! Hopefully we can find a replacement soon. We are working on it and if you know of a great road that could have potential please feel free to post it and we'll take a look. Things to consider...
-has to be closed for a minimum of sat and sun 8-5. So no major roads or roads with houses and neighborhoods and such
-goes uphill (mostly)
-has decent pavement. Things like potholes and dips are not formula friendly. And no dirt roads please.
-no large trees or boulders within a few feet of the road. Those are not fun objects to hit.
Just a couple pointers if you have something in mind.Mark K

I thought that was the chasing the dragon people who were planning on repaving.Originally posted by JohnW8 View PostI hope it's to give them time to repave the road before 2013.M. Cholewa

However, Crow Mountain needed a serious repave also.John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

Apparently the lame duck county commission decided to disallow the event due to various complaints from a small group of Crow Mountain locals. A petition was submitted to the commission with over 140 names in support of the event including several local businesses that benefited from the increased revenue the hillclimb brought to the area but was disregarded in favor of a petition of fewer than 40 names who claimed, the area was left trashy, they were inconvenienced with wait times to get down the road and other erroneous claims.
This event was a benefit to the area and the local businesses need to take it up with their elected officials. Meanwhile TVR is on the search for another site not far away and plan to get a contract with the next site owner.John W8

Yes. Mark and I are currently in talks with Ted Theodore and seeing if it is a possibility.Originally posted by Erv View PostNot that I find it likely, but oak mtn would be a blast to hill climb. Anyone looked into that?John Kilgore...if winning was easy, losers would do it.

Too many homes, etc., I would imagine. Chimney Peak in Jacksonville would be cool, too, but there's no place to paddock other than somebody's front yard.Originally posted by seducksauce View PostThere be some nifty roads on Mt. Cheaha...Chuck Schultz

Here's the one I was thinking of. As best I remember, there's a few miles of just nothing but forest on this road. Pretty darn fun as well. No pot holes, but a somewhat abrasive surface, with perhaps a few patches. Could still be formula friendly though.
