Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

If you are working a corner white is best. If you don't want to wear white pants at least wear light colored ones that are mostly cotton. A plain white shirt is a must, this will help you to stand out to the drivers. It is also adviseable to bring some gloves in case you have to pick anything up off the track. Also don't forget sunscreen, a hat, a chair for in between runs and a small cooler to take some drinks out to your station.

        Ear plugs are nice too.
There are some loud cars there and the corner workers are very close to the track.
Maybe a snack or two as well for between sessions.

For all you that have graciously volunteered your time to work this weekend I thank you. I hope the drivers all have a good weekend and don't need your services, but thank you for your service just the same.

The track will be open Saturday morning at 7:00am with a worker meeting at the main building at 7:15am. This is where you get you work station assignment and the worker chief will discuss the days business. Flags, how to respond on the radio, etc etc. Pas sout lunch tickets etc.,etc., Please be on time because the schedule is tight with a record 61 drivers and 15 students and a first time ever sold out PDX. We can't do this stuff without you and for that, we are grateful. There will be 30 minutes worker laps at the END OF THE DAY so please be sure your car is ready to go.

I hope to see you all this weekend but not in a professional manner on course, you understand.

              Thanks and See you there!

The prefer the workers to wear pants for safety reasons.

If anyone else would like to work please come on out and we will get you some flags, training and a wonderful tent! We could use all the help we can get and I know you will have a great time!

                        Thanks!

We won't turn you away, but we would prefer it if you wore pants. Light cotton is fine (some old khakis work great as they don't get too hot) as are jeans or anything else. Just be prepared to get warm.

Also, with wearing pants, you don't have to worry about your legs getting burned to a crisp from standing on the same corner all day.

Actually they might turn you away. Long pants are required to be in hot areas such as over the wall or in grid so one can only assume that working a corner is in a "hot" area as well.

The idea isn't about fashion or comfort it's about safety. If you have to help a driver out of a car and there's a hot engine or exhaust that you could get in contact with long pants protect your legs from burns muuuuucccccchhh better that shorts. The same thing goes for long sleeves and gloves. I don't anticipate any hot firey situations but they do happen. Ask Miles about last November and Ted Theodores car. It's better to be safe. It won't be too hot this weekend.

                            Please wear long pants.

Ok so long pants, closed toe shoes. Got it.

What time do the workers need to be there by?

Also if we are going to do any worker laps do we need to do anything to our cars?

You need to be there at 7 for the worker meeting at 7:15 and so you can be out to your corner before 8 when the first car goes off. So make sure you SSS before you leave the house, get some food in you (there will be breakfast available to purchase, usually) and some caffeine. Wear shades because you're going to be driving directly into the rising sun down 20.

If you're doing worker laps, you just need to prep like you would for autocross - take out loose junk, and have a helmet.

BUT, don't drive like a lunatic, the worker laps are supposed to be at a slower pace, and if one person does something stupid, the whole thing gets shut down. This is not directed at you specifically, just a warning to all.

They will go over the worker lap rules before you go out, it's basically the same as the pdx/tt rules, no passing in corners, only on the 3 straights that allow passing, pass with a point by, fist out the window to signify pitting in, don't be a punk and not point people by, and don't try to be an hero.
