Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

It's the same car I had at the auto-x this past weekend. It had new HPS pads and new rotors in it when I got it all back together last fall. They have some street driving and two auto-x days on them.

Do you guys think that they will be good enough?

I'd imagine...I'd just say as long as they have at least 50% life on em you should be fine. But also if they're of any concern to you, this track will show their weaknesses. It's tough on brakes! Fun though

It appears that I may be instructing for the PDX if need be. So Griffin if you need some insight I can help you out. Hopefully the RX7 will be tuned and I can run it in the event. If so, you are more than welcome to ride along.

Your biggest issue is going to be overheating, so make sure that they have a fresh stream of air coming at them from the front, make sure the dust shield (if there is one) is gone, and make sure that you have some higher temp brake fluid in the system.

You will overheat them, your pedal will be mushy, you will probably boil off some fluid.

Expect to change fluid after the event, and consider changing it before as well.

Ok, my E30 has the stock ducts that take air from the front of the car and push it into the brake area on the fronts. However, they don't connect to the rotor and the dust shields are still there and I'm not sure how easy they are to remove. I believe the front hub has to be pressed off. If I was going to go to the trouble to remove them I'd probably order up the cooling kits like the SpecE30 guys use to put on the car.

I have SS brake lines and ATE Super Blue fluid in the car. I also rebuilt the calipers with new seals and did a quick hone to the inside when they were all apart. I have plenty of extra fluid for flushing afterwards and speed bleeders on each corner so that is no problem.

I'll be sure to take it easy on the drive home and check everything after the event.

            Thanks for the tips!

              Jerry,
Factory cooling is sufficient for the e30. You know what you are doing from your WERA days. Warming the brakes up on the car is just as important as on the racebike. You will be fine taking the car out as is.

              No Worries.

Is this that pretty silver e30 that's been at the last few autocrosses?

Well, mine is Bronzit but some people call it silver. I wouldn't say it's pretty though so it's probably not mine, ha! There was a guy with a silver 4 door at the Sept auto-x and then my buddy Matt came down in his silver 2 door for the Oct auto-x.

I gave the track a test, Saturday, and had enough fun that I may leave the R-comps on the car until after worker laps.

Come on out and give us a hand, and you can find out what I'm talking about!
