Well, I went to Road Atlanta on Friday and setup camp , ate a fantastic steak dinner compliments of Steve Patterson,his wife Anita,and Chuck Baader. Shot the breeze and drank a few beers and turned in for the night.
The weather was fantastic Saturday morning as we hit the track for our practice session which yielded a 1:57 as my fastest track time , which is really not so bad but not as fast as I wanted to go . I unhooked the rear sway bar to try and tame the loose condition and the tire spin on corner exit then headed back out after lunch for my next session and the car was much more manageable and trustworthy but didnt really improve on my time so I said wth!!! my third and final session I went out and decided to trust the tires and brakes a little further and ended up with a 1:56....not what I was looking for but I brought the car back home with no damage mechanical or otherwise. I had a great time and it was a well run event .
I wish more of you guys could have made it over. Butch Kummer said in the drivers meeting that he was going to drop the entry fee for next year to $150 instead of $200. I think that should help with attendance.

well if you do the math....my lap times were 1:57 ish , the clock started from green and ended at checker . The session time was 15 minutes. That is 7-8 laps per session at speed. We got one lap under double yellow to get the tires and brakes up to temp before the time started and a cool down lap after the checker so 9 or 10 total per session times 3.
By the end of my 1st timed session , my header had heated my floorboard enough to cause the healpad to go soft and melt a hole in it and start sticking to my shoe so 15 minutes per session was plenty of time . I guess I am going ot have to build a heat shield for that .

Traffic was nonexistant in my group but we only had 5 cars in group A. Group C had a couple really fast cars in it . Zach Monette was in that group doing 1:27's in a GT-1 tube chassis mustang so he passed the rest of the field twice .Originally posted by e30Racer View Post7-8 isn't bad at all. Thanks for all the info Ricky. I guess when I was reading the schedule, I misunderstood how it was going to be run. I thought that the TT groups were going to be mixed in with the Road Race group at some points.
Having heard your experience, it seems as though it was much more enjoyable than I had imagined.Mark K
