  • TGPR March 19-20 2011

Put that date on your calendars.

We had to move to March to avoid the crowds and lack of motel rooms that accompanies a NASCAR event at Talladega. NASCAR moved their event to our weekend <snorts loudly in disgust>.

Supps are about ready to be submitted to SCCA for approval. We will be using MotorSports Reg this year.

What is being planned for that weekend? TT/School only, as listed on the SEDiv schedule, or other activities, such as PDX, as well?

Don't forget that you can create an event listing here - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Alabam...app_2344061033

We will be doing a Level 2 (Club Trials) and Level 3 (Time Trials) event as well as the traditional TT school. One thing folks need to consider is that in order to run the Road Atlanta TT event a few weeks after our event you must be a licensed TT driver.

We will be listing on Facebook once I get the sanction number and it's official.

Chuck are you going to compete?

The Level 2 is very much like a PDX except that it will be timed. AMB Transponders will be available for rent. Entrants will need to a qualified technician fill out a tech sheet on their car and provide their racing experience to aid in classifying/grouping. Instructors or not depends on the experience levels.

We are looking for experienced instructors and corner workers. We need all the help we can get from both regions.

Road Racers - come on out and be an instructor or work a corner. You will be amazed at how much fun it is to see a student improve and the improvement was because of you! Working a corner gives you a whole new perspective.

Or bring your car out for a weekend of test N tune. You will get double the track time of a Friday Test Day at a lesser price.

I can't predict what I'll be doing that weekend this far out, unfortunately, since I'm in a state of flux, lately, both at work and at home. With that said, I intend to get in some more track time, this year, than last, and might give TT a try, if I can save up enough cash to buy some proper clothes.

Everybody probably wants to know pricing - how much for entry fees and transponder rentals?

I can see the attraction of running a Level 2 event, which would make it an all-competition weekend. However, if I were looking for real entry-level folks, I'd offer a PDX, instead, (or maybe Level 1 Saturday, Level 2 Sunday) to help keep expenses and stress levels down for folks thinking of getting on track for the first time.

Cost will be $200. A bit more for the TT School. Transponders will be $40 with a $500 deposit check which will shredded if the transponder is returned.
