  • Spring season ends with a BANG!

We had a great clinic on May 30 to end the Spring 2009 season. Thanks to Ricky Ragan, Matt Williams, Michael Cholewa, Vincent Coker, & Elaine Farrell, with a special guest appearence by Eric Edwards, for making the day flow so smoothly.

And that was not necessarily an easy thing to do. When we arrived, construction on the new Gardendale High School building adjacent to the lot we use had caused traffic from the road that divides the two to be diverted onto the space we normally use. We were able to work around that, but all day long, people kept trying to short-cut the detour and drove around construction pylons, barrells, and barrier tape onto the pavement we were using!

Ultimately, all went well; the kids had a great time, some even admitting that initially they did not want to come, but were delighted that they had. And, as usual, the transformation in their driving skills from the beginning of the day until the end was simply amazing!

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who worked to make the Spring 2009 clinic a reality. We tried some new things, and most of it worked out for the better. But the amazing thing is that you guys (and girls) who devoted your time found out that the NDCCC is a labor of love. Nobody ever promised you it would be easy, or convenient, but you continued to work anyway, simply because of what the clinics mean for these kids and for ALSCCA.

Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now let's get busy planning the Fall 2009 season!!!

I've enjoyed participating in the NDCCC this year so far, and I am looking forward to the fall sessions. Who else is going to represent the SCCA from Tuscaloosa?!?!

I thought it was interesting that so many of them shook our hands, that was definitely a first for me in the three events that I have done and it was a great feeling. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't done my share of community events in my lifetime, but I have really found that the NDCCC is a great way for me to give back what I have learned behind the wheel of a car in my short time of driving and autocross.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

    -Vincent.

And my thanks to all of you for making this last class possible. I had several friends' kids there and it sounds like everyone had a great time...as usual.

I would have loved to be there, but I was pretending to be a race car driver with Chuck It was nice to run into several ALSCCA folks at Barber this weekend even with my short time being involved with you guys. Saw Yoder, Drew Peele & John Waight on saturday and C & the other Jamie today.

Glad everything went well; especially with the limited lot.

Sorry I had to leave before the event even began. Sometimes you don't know how sick you are till you drive an hour away from home.
