  • Spring 2009 clinic dates

OK, we have our site and we have dates, so get your calendars marked.

All clinics will be held at Gardendale First Baptist Church in the parking lot adjacent to the Family Life Center, classrooms in said center.

    April 4
    April 25
    May 2
May 30 ( this is to be a clinic originated by and for GFBC)

We have had great response from the ALSCCA community in working the clinics in the past, and I know you can all be counted on again for the Spring 2009 clinics. However, there are many jobs that must be done in addition to field instruction. Here are the logistics we need to work out:

Promotion, Registration, Insurance, Notifications, Reminders - I've got that covered
    Site procurement - completed
Pick up pylons and equipment from ALSCCA truck and deliver to site - Ricky Ragan
Initial course set up (two 5 cone slaloms, nothing to it) - M. Cholewa
Classroom instruction (Matt & Sean working on .ppt version) - Sean & Greg
Field Instruction (minimum of 3 per clinic) - Jordan, Sara, C, Matt, Cholewa, Evan
General Helpers - (usually newbies & those who prefer the role) - Some have up'ed, need more!
Site and classroom clean up - everybody!
Return pylons and equipment to ALSCCA truck - Ricky Ragan

I have had the good fortune to rely on Sean Yoder, Matt Williams, and Michael Cholewa in joing me in the charge to make the 2009 NDCCC year happen. I know we can count on each of you to do your part as well.

Please post up with the jobs you would like to take responsibility for.

Im in for my usual .I look forward to it .Since the truck is down the street from me ...I can take care of pickup and transporting of the cones and stuff to and from the clinics that I am going to. About how many cones do we usually bring out ???10 cones to block off entrances and 30 or so cones for the exercises???40?

Greg, I'll be there for the first two and can help out as needed.

Ricky, we sometimes have chains across some of the entrances but you should plan for them not being up. Click here to see the lot we will be using. You can zoom in 1 more level to more clearly see where there are entrances & lights. There are 2 entrances on Mt Olive Road, 4 or 5 on Grubbs Avenue, and at least 3 in the parking lots themselves, so it will take a lot more than 10 cones. I will try to check on the chains & let you know if they are out there.

We will be going in & out of the building through the door you can see in this pic (where the silver truck & black car are parked), which is the south side of the Family Life Center. We will not be using the lot in front of the FLC (where the cars are in the link) or the areas behind the building.

Y'all let me know of any questions you have & I'll do my best to answer them.

I usually handle field and take down. I'm not positive on the April dates yet. I'll be attending fire school in April and I don't have the dates yet.

I don't do much, so those dates are most likely open for me. As usual, I'll help with field instruction and course change/breakdown.

As an update on the presentation ... I'll admit, I haven't worked on it recently. I have had my head in many places recently and haven't given it the required attention in the off season. It will be completed before the first class and the instructors will have time to review and practice with the new medium.

It is based directly on the script provided by Greg, so it will not be unfamiliar to anyone. But, also as mentioned during the conceptual stages, it is not a crutch by any means. It is a presentation to reinforce the speaker and not to read from. I know that everyone will like the format that Sean and I decided on for this.

I'd would like to try my hand at classroom instruction or field instruction. I am hating myself for not being able to make it to any of the events from last year. This is a great program and I will be making an honest effort to be there when I can.

                      Thanks,

I'm in. Assign me to whatever you need.

Great work, Rod. It's a beautiful lot; not full of light poles, planters, curbs and stuff!!!

Even better yet, it's much closer to Cullman! (Sorry, Wally)

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection ...... again.
