  • 2011 Spring Clinic registration & FAQ

The 2011 Spring Teen Driver Clinic schedule is complete. Clinic dates are March 12, April 23, and May 21. At this time all are scheduled to be held at Gardendale First Baptist Church. However, we are continuing with additional site evaluations so locations could change. Cost has remained $105.

Attached to this post are the registration form and FAQ if you would like to either enroll a student or pass the information along.

Please note that for enrollments I need to be mailed the completed registration form along with a check.

PM me or email teen.driver@alscca.net if you have any questions.

It needs to have an unobstructed square about 50 yards across to do the cloverleaf, and a long stretch about 70-100 yards for everything else.

To give you an idea of where it's been held in the past, google irondale first national bank, trussville highschool, st peters the apostle catholic church.

The biggest obstacle is finding a long enough site for the majority of the exercises, and one that is wide enough without light poles/trash cans/curbs, to do the cloverleaf. And of course, a classroom.

        that's a good question John

Using my church as a baseline, for most exercises we need a minimum of an unobstructed stretch about 100' wide by 350-450' long. The cloverleaf exercise is usually the sticking point as we need about 130+' square to provide full-size trucks & suvs enough room to make their turns.

Got somewhere in mind? Give me an address and I'll look it up on google maps.

BTW, this is a minimum site. The cloverleaf takes the most time. We are limited to about 15 students if we can only set up one cloverleaf.

Do you guys pay for usage to the church?

Hunter Street Baptist has a huge parking lot as does the Regions Ballpark.

No, the church is kind to allow us free use of the facility. We have been in discussions with Hoover & the Barons for some time. Regions ain't free, and scheduling it is a borderline nightmare. Haven't thought about Hunter Street specifically but will keep it in mind. There are several churches with suitable facilities, but I'm a member at Gardendale so access is relative easy there.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are always looking for possible sites and I appreciate the help.
