  • Workers for 10/23/10 Clinic

We are now one week away from our next teen driver clinic on Saturday, October 23rd. We have 11 students lined up and the ten-day forecast holds hope for another beautiful day. Now I just need to confirm our workers! As a reminder, it would be great if workers show up by 8:15am so we can get waivers taken care of and get setup for students to start arriving about 8:30. Directions to the church are:

    - Take I-65 to Exit 271, Fieldstown Road
    - Go east on Fieldstown Road
    - Turn right at the 2nd traffic light on to Mt Olive Road
    - Turn left at the next traffic light
    - Take first left to enter church parking lot.

Here is the list of workers i built from earlier posts. Please confirm that you can still make it, or if you would like to help let me know so I can add you to the list.

    Rod Hardiman
    Zac Hardiman?
    Ben Hardiman?
    Michael Cholewa (classroom instructor)
    Sara Tongsuvone
    Chaisit Tongsuvone
Ricky Ragan (bringing the cones & lights)
    Robert Russom
    Jonathan Glidewell
    Courtney Glidewell
    Evan Waugh

Thanks again for the help folks. This program could not exist without you.

    Looking forward to it.

Lets reply with some tips. I've been trying to think of some lately.
    Traffic Tips:
-Even if you can see the car, if you can't see the driver they may not see you.
-Try not to drive in blind spots...explain what a blind spot is
-Don't be victim to the judgement of only the vehicle right in front of you. You should always leave plenty of following distance, but try to have a line of sight to the vehicle in front of it too. I.e., I try not to find myself behind trucks & SUVs, anything I can't see around.
-After looking both ways before pulling away from a stop, let your last look be a sweeping look back to the direction you intend to go, don't look and then blink as you turn back around, the vehicle you missed could be a motorcycle.
-And to do your part to stop road rage. Slower traffic keep right.

    General Tips:
-Cover seating position. Elbows at roughly 90*, and to quote Greg Lee, thumbs up.
-Keep an eye on the gauges, get used to what they "should" look like

    Note:
-Make sure the kids pump their tires way up and they turn trac. control off each time they start the car while they're participating in the school.

All I can think of right now.

keep em coming and then lets list them and hand them out.

C and I will be there but we need to leave a little early so we might sneak out during the last exercise. We will let you know of course.

Down like a clown charlie brown.

We try to not tell them about traction control because we want them to feel the car how it will be when they would normally drive it on the street (tcs on). Most of that other stuff should have been covered, situational awareness, seating position, and spacing...
            M. Cholewa

Because they heard I liked my name, so they put my name as my name so I could have my name in my name... all the time.

That should be fine Sara. We are usually long on instructors during the braking exercises.

I still plan to be there.

Rod, will we be able to film the "helmet cam" shots for the presentation?

The cams are not yet here and no way to track them. I will let you know if they show up.
