  • Oct. 4th Clinic...

Figured we would go ahead and keep the momentum going from this weekend.

And on that upbeat note, I will have to take it down a notch by saying that I already have commitments at Road Atlanta that Saturday. Someone has to work at Petit LeMans, it might as well be me. That being said , the Nov. 1st event has been entered into the day planner and I will abslutely be there to hopefully at least assist in the classroom.

Had a blast yesterday folks. Simply an amazing program and such a huge impact on the students as well as the parents by the end of the day!

I'll be there and trying my hand at the classroom sessions ... let's see how those public speaking classes will work. I'll be really happy to see Sara at the next event as well ... I feel that having Elaine and Sara there is a great benefit to the female drivers. It reassures them that they can do the exercises.

I believe we have a few other first-time instructors next event as well ... C is one, but I think there are some others. This really is a great program and I encourage anyone with a free Saturday to participate. You will have fun, you'll likely learn something yourself and you will feel really great seeing the kids leave the class with the skills they've learned.

Just remember new comers, it's a NEW DRIVER car control clinic, not an intro to autox. And i know you guys did a good job of distinguishing that line, but just keep in mind, these are kids who are just getting into these cars, and just learning how to drive through cones. Baby steps. The ultimate goal is to feel the car as it nears the limits, and to watch ahead to see what's coming. When most of us talk about driving, it's backed by years of road driving, and track driving, and whatever else falls in between. For these kids, when they talk about driving, it's backed by mom and dad letting them drive to the grocery store or to school. And i'm not saying any of the new instructors are or will do it, but greg and ken do an amazing job of making this for new drivers with very little experience rather than making it a simulated autox.

And just be glad we stopped doing the slalom in reverse (although it was fun)

I'm so excited I get to come with this one! Is there anything I need to know before I get there, anything I need to bring?

Comfortable shoes, comfortable clothes (you'll be standing on the blacktop for 6 or so hours with lots of hot cars around you) some sunglasses and maybe a hat. I'm still pretty crispy in the face so sunscreen is a good idea, and of course, water. Although the site does have an ice/water dispenser which is awesome, it doesnt hurt to bring your own if you want it.

Other than that, bring a good attitude and be prepared to shag cones and talk to kids. It's great fun and it's for a great cause.

Will do. I've always loved teaching, and I have a feeling that teaching driving skills will be much more exciting than teaching biochemistry or physics!! :-) Thanks for letting me be a part of the action!

I guess it's official; I just sent out the reminder to all the parents about the Oct. 4 clinic. I'd like to get a count of instructors for the clinic. Here is who I think we have so far...

                          Michael Cholewa
                          Eric Edwards
                          Matt Williams
                          David Branch, the Sr.
                          Jordan, the aufox

                          How about these guys...

                          Sean, the Yoder
                          Elaine Ferrell
                          Jamie, the Jack, McKimmell
                          Evan, the Waugh

                          Know to be MIA...

                          Ricky, Mr. Solo, Ragan

Post up so I can get a definite idea of who gonna be there. And, it's not too late for YOU to help out either!

                          Thanks,

                          Greg

I believe Sean is working at Road Atlanta. Jamie had a possible conflict but was still on the fence last I heard.

I think Sean's flagging and I'm 125% sure that Chuck has not missed a race this year, even when he had one a Barber's and RA on the same day. Don't ask me how he does it but he does.

I'm supposed to be working a shutdown at Children's Hospital but the way they are that could change by Tuesday, change back by Thursday, then be off again Friday afternoon so I'll let you know. I'd love to flag the petite and work the NDCCC, and possibly make the double time too but I'm not Chuck.
