For the first time in 12 years, I thought we were going to have to cancel a clinic. I arrived at the site at 8:00 to a light rain and thunder in the background. As students began to arrive, the rain and the lightning increased. While we can deal with the rain, I would never ask the workers to stand in the middle of a wet parking lot, with metal light poles all around, while it's lightning.
Fortunately, a small hole in the radar showed that we could at least begin on time. We got the clinic in, got wet, had fun, and the kids really learned something. The lot at GFBC has got some great wet grip, so the rain never really factored into the exercises, only the comfort of workers, parents, and students.
Thanks to these guys for braving the weather and making this clinic a success:
Rod Hardiman
Eric Edwards
Matt Williams
Vincent Coker
David Branch
Michael Cholewa
Your next opportunity to contribute your time to the club that contributes to your motorsports activities is October 17. I'll start a new thread for that event and for those who want to give something back - to these kids, to the club, and to themselves.
Thanks again to all you who made the September 26 clinic a success.
