Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • a new event

a little while back there were a few folks who expressed reasons why they dont attend the "traditional autox".

Well, among those reasons listed...there were some who didnt like the lack of seat time .There are also track day guys who autox doesnt appeal to also for this same reason but they still value autox for its car control benefits and test n tune opportunities without having to find out at the track and spend valuable track time in the paddock changing their car instead of driving their car on track.

Recently Robert Russom approached me about ALSCCA sanctioning an autox event more geared to these individuals .We have decided to do it .

The entries are going to be limited to 20 drivers, the fee will be $100.00 and it will be an autox that allows its drivers to drive untill they puke or their cars do whichever comes first .The date has been secured at BRC for July the 19th....the week after the shootout .The details of registration is still being setup and will most likely be exclusively done through axware ORM and will probably require online pay .

Timing is still being discussed ..(whether it will be timed or not )

If you are one of the ones who have been desiring more seat time for setup and practice this should be your event.

      When: 7/19/09

      Where: Birmingham Race Course

      Why: Practice and Vehicle Set-up

This event will be pre-reg. only and limited to 20 people @ $100/ea. The event will only be offered to experienced drivers only, whether AutoX, Time Trial, HPDE, or Road Racing backgrounds so the event runs can move along at a quick pace. The idea is to drive as much as you can stand and take breaks whenever you want.

We will setup 3 features. One BIG course, a slalom, and a dry skidpad. After lunch we’ll change the slalom and dry skidpad to a smaller autoX course, so after lunch, one BIG course, one smaller one.

We will need 7 people for early morning setup. To these 7 we’ll offer a $20 discount and these folks will need to arrive by 7:00. Please e-mail me directly if you’re interested in being a part of this early morning setup team to receive your discount.

Everyone else will need to arrive before the driver’s meeting at 7:45, first car off at 8:00. All times are cst.

If someone wants their runs timed throughout the day they will need to pay an add’l $20. This is in place so we’re not having to keep up with ALL times, only a handful, but to those looking to make adjustments throughout the day and not just practice, this will give a quantitative result to the adjustments. Each person who wants their runs timed will receive a w/s dot, upper left, and will need to remind the starter to radio the worker in the trailer before each run. A timed participant every now and then will not put much “drag” on the event production.

We are looking into bringing 4 day laborers to the event to help with setup and to work the course throughout the day. This will keep any of us from having to run for cones. So iow, if you’re not on course, you can be sitting in a very short line, or taking a break under an EZ-UP. We will only need a handful of people to work in the trailer all day. These volunteers will receive a $10 discount to work 2 hours in the trailer as a dispatch to the workers and to record times to those that have paid to have their times recorded.

Pre-registration will be available very soon at www.alscca.org.

You are encouraged to reserve your space quickly because this limited entry event will fill up very quickly.

Special thanks to Ricky Ragan for helping to organize this event, and getting it to the board for quick approval.

This event is sponsored & presented by the Alabama Region of the SCCA, SPEEDSOUTH, & Southeast Chassis Dyno. For more information about these sponsors visit alscca.org, SPEEDSOUTH.com, & SECdyno.com

I'm glad this conflicts with the SCCA Pro Racing Mazda MX-5 Cup race at Barber, so I won't be tempted to spend the money.

I hear there's also a Skip Barber National race and a Rolex race that day at Barber. In addition, most area Club Racers (and maybe some track day types) will probably be at the double SARRC/Pro-IT/PDX at Road Atlanta.

I'm very interested. Let me run some numbers to see if I can afford it before I commit.

If the rack fixes the LeMons car I couldn't be more interested. The second part of this equation involves us getting the rack installed in time and whether or not I will have to be at Barber with my simulator. We shall see.

Here is the last part of this equation, can we run multiple laps at a time? If we can go out and run 5 to 10 lap sessions on a 50 to 70 second course then It's perfect to work the bugs out of our car.

I've heard of some clubs running 5-minute Solo "enduros," counting laps in 5 minutes plus how long it takes to finish another, or some weird calculation.

some of us more calendar challenged individuals have realized that this conflicts with the Grand Am race at Barber and we are changing the date .How bout the 26th of July ...1 week later.?Call me Darryl

Grand Am was totally off mof my radar since I really do not enjoy watching pro racing when I can run my car ,but I realize that this is not the case with alot of others who may want to participate in this and see Grand Am.

                  Stay tuned .

Perfect, one more week to get the suspension dialed! Who do I need to get the moneys to?

I would like to know if it's $100 per car as well. There are a couple folks that have put the time in on the Lemons car that would like to drive as well. 1 car, 2 or 3 drivers, is that still $100? Should be if it's limited to 20 cars. Just my two cents.

BY the way, this is GENIUS! I love the idea of 5 lap stints or even 10. We're coming with crap tires anyway. May as well kill em off!

Wow, way to give up. This concept has HUGE potential. It could turn into a completely new event format if put together correctly. I think we need to rethink the way to market it and try again.

I would like to point out that I'm so not a MAYBE. I am a "Tell me where to take my MONEY!".

I'm still confused. Are these single lap autocross runs or a multi lap tuning session for folks who want seat time?

I don't get it. Why put on a segregated autocross, what I mean by that is an autocross attended by folks who don't want to shag cones. Why not call it a Test n Tune? Charge a
$25 entry for folks who drive AND work the course and a "$100, I don't wanna work" fee for those who don't want to get moistened with perspiration. Make it a non-points event and set up the timing scoreboard. No recorded times. Line up and go. Why does everything have to be so difficult?

At first I assumed it was an auto cross for track day people who didn't want to associate with the riff raff that usually attends an autocross.
