  • Maybe, July 19, the return of a legend..

… or a curse, depending on your perspective. Seriously, it’s been since like 2007 since I “turned a wheel in anger”. Racing is an incurable disease. It may go into remission , but from time to time it will rise up and twist your arm again. I think I’d like to come visit once again. Scanning the AutoX results, I see maybe three names I remember. Of course, Rod Hardiman, whom I turned the Teen Driver Clinic over to and who has taken it way beyond my wildest dreams. Clay McCool, why oh why did you ever sell the Moosda? And Sparks Morgan, damn, you must be 100 years old by now. I remember you from the days we ran at the Miller’s parking lot in Midfield.

it will be hot on the 19th, and I will not be competing if I’m able to show up. Hard to run a lifted F150 4X4 in AutoX!

Full disclosure, I’ve been shopping for Miata’s and MR2’s

I think Cameron McNeal had an MR2 for sale. Most everyone is on a facebook group chat. ALSCCA events & members chat. Maybe you can find it if you search with that layout.

      Greg,

I surely hope you can come out and meet us next gen folks. I think Clay and Rod have been the only resource I've had to tell me about the history of the club prior to 2018. I think there was a brief time when the solo program was inactive before Cameron Hall stepped up to kick start it back.

As Justin said *Cameron Neal has had an MRS on the market for a very good price and it even has some safety gear if you're into that kind of thing.

If you're looking for something of the more modern variety, I think Brett Ferrel still has his ND2 Miata up for grabs. He may even have the "C Street Starter Pack" still with the car if you want to have a top car for a class.

SCCA is considering a massive reclassing of street class cars for Jan 1, 2026 that will surely put the SCCA car market into gear as people move cars and classes.

The tires have probably changed a lot in your abscence. These Super 200 tires are now as fast if not faster than the old DOT R comps were and cost MORE to run. The S2000 has nearly vanished from SCCA events because of the current generation Mazda Miata. HOWEVER, the fun to be had in the paddock still exists and will be a very familiar feeling to you. It is my job at our events to ensure everyone has a good time, and if you're aren't, just come find me and I'll check that box!

If at first you don't succeed, you probably put it in the ditch.

I wonder if the S2000 can make a short comeback with the Miatas leaving CST class. If Brett has that ND still for sale that is a great car to get back into the game with.
