C5 Z06 Classes

Hey y'all, Im curious about potential class options for my C5Z. Ive looked through the rulebook but man is it confusing. I know the car stock is an AS car, but there is also an SSR class. Can't really find much detail on SSR rules (100 treadwear tires?). Also, I know people run modified C5Z's in CAM-S class, is that a pretty open class as far as modifications (still 200 treadwear tires)?

I personally would run the car in A Street. It will be most competitive there out of the box. The rules still allow you to change shocks, and one sway bar and you can give the car a great handling characteristic.

SSR is effectively the R Comp class (Hoosier tires). It's an expensive class to run in. The tires are very expensive and don't last as long as a 200 trdw.

CAMS is where you can run the car when you strap on all of the aftermarket parts. This class is "provisional" meaning there is no national champion jacket available for it at solo Nationals. This is because people think it's a pay to win class with its loose rules. With that being said, Matthew Sparkman spanked the modded corvettes in South Georgia with a mildly modded Solstice. (He is a great driver though.)

In addition to running your car in A Street, you can run the A Street prepped car in CAMS and still be competitive. You cannot, however, run the CAMS prepped car in A Street at all. Being A Street will give you flexibility to bounce around to classes with more participants.

Thanks Nick, I will keep the car in A street for now. The car is actually setup for it anyway, with Koni Yellows and a front sway bar. I bought this car from Mike Merrill (not sure if you are familiar) but he spent several years with it in A street before moving on to endurance racing with scca (Georgia).

I appreciate the explanations on other classes. It is what I figured so i'll plan to do A street. Its really just for enjoyment anyway!
