  • Season Ending Social

I was thinking of an end of the season social event in which we present season trophies, and discuss next season.

This would be after the first of the year, as holidays can be busy.

Previous gatherings have been had at AutoBahn and included go-cart races.

Would that be something we'd like to try again?

    Comment below!

    ***Announcment***
I am in the process of planning this event out using the feedback from the following responses.

I am trying to get us set up at Autobahn Indoor Go Cart Track in McCalla (These electric carts haul a$$ for those who don't know.)

I'm targeting Saturday January 28th at 9:30AM for our event. I'm still trying to finalize some pricing details. We will have the conference room to present trophies and discuss our 2023 ambitions. The Saturday rates will be higher during the week, but this will allow our ,members who have a longer drive a chance to make it in to the gathering easier. (They make it to an Autocross at 7am so this should be easy.)

What I need now to help in finalizing plans, is a HEAD COUNT.

If you're going to this event, please respond to this post or reach out to me. For the group deal, you'll need to RSVP.

    List:
    Josh Toxey
    Dwayne Custer
    Robert Lyle Cain
    Nick Lindsay
    James Mitchell
    Mike Wenning
    Andrew Fleming
    Justin Richardson
    Nate Mccrary
    Ryan Tolleson
    Marty Mitchell
    Brad Clem (What a bully.)
    Michael Taliaferro
    Jonathan Foster
    Lane Downs
    Johnny Brewster

    ***UPDATE***
We have launched the event on MSR to keep up with the folks who want to race, and make payment easier.

The event will be Saturday January 28th at 9:30am.

The deal is 3 races for $80. The races will be private against fellow group members, and not against the general public at the facility.

Registration will require this direct link, as it will not be available via the event finder on MSR.

    Link:
    https://www.motorsportreg.com/events...alabama-928202

    Autobahn Rules:

You can wear your own helmet while racing the kart, so long as they are DOT or SNELL approved. This should not be a problem for any of our autocross usuals.

You must wear closed toe shoes. I know wearing them old flip flops on a 75 degree day in January in Alabama is tempting, but probably not a good idea.

You will have to pre-register for Autobahn's system at this event. You can do it at the Kiosk when you arrive, or you can follow the link I'm providing below to pre-register, and maybe save some time when you arrive. If minors register on site, their gaurdian will need to be present.

Go get registered up on MSR!

Well, pending other suggestions, I think I'm gonna bring this up in the board meeting next week.

We will likely need to RSVP this event, and I'll likely send an email out when this time comes.

I contacted Autobahn in regards to us doing a group event. The pricing is what would follow:

Group of 8+ persons could have events for $69 for 3 races per person. They offer a private room that can be used for meetings that we could also get to do trophy presentation, unless we decided we would want to meet somewhere for food beforehand or just had the trophies out in the parking lot.

Being as to how $69 is almost what we pay for an autocross, and the nature of reserving this group event, I am seeking some feedback from what the club members would like to do. Racing carts against some of my fellow competitiors in autocross would be a lot more fun than just having a supper, even though it comes at a high cost.

I'm open to input of what anybody would like to do with this venue, or alternatives. This was just a starting point.

          Thoughts?

I think Autobahn is a great idea! I’m willing to pay to have some fun in a cart and compete without Miatas.

Autobahn is a great day. Is it $69 per person? For 8+ people? What happens when you already have races on your account there (may or may not be me)

Everybody that has said they plan to attend, please register using the link above in the blue section. Currently, there are only 4 people registered. Thanks, Nick, for setting this up in MSR and getting it to show the current attendee list!

Edit: adding link here for convenience.
