Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

2022 Tire Rack SCCA Allied vs Axis National Tour @ Spence Field

This event will be December 2nd thru December 4th.

Registration opens October 19th at 3:00pm.

If you are looking to dip your toes into the water for a national event, this is the one for you!

It's probably the closest National Tour. Being it is in December, the weather is cooler. The event is usually pretty laid back compared to some of the other national events.

I'll be looking to attend this event, and will do anything to help you out on your first national event.

There is also "Evo Advantage Driving School" and "Starting Line Driver's Edge" opportunities available for this event. These come at an added cost, but you'll have some one on one time with some great SCCA drivers, and get their feedback. These opportunities provide a lot of seat time also, which is nice.

The host reason will do ticket sales for test n tune on Friday, but it can be a bit crazy at times to do test n tune, whereas the driving school(s) give you plenty of opportunity to drive before the test n tune starts. You can even go buy test n tune tickets after the school, if you so desire.

Yeah, I am too. I'm planning on tearing down the suspension on the Corvette for a big off season overhaul (16 years old). If I can't get my shit together, I'll just bring her car I guess. HA!

You gonna try to drive down again?

I'm adding a list of folks from our region who are planning on going. I plan to arrive Friday morning before the test n tune, and I'll try to get us some paddock space setup so we can all be within close proximity.

BTW, this is a themed event, thus the name.

If you have a German car, or Japanese car, you're Axis.

If you're American, British, or French car, you're Allied.

If your car is Italian, on day one you're Axis, and day two you're Allied.

Where is everyone staying at for this weekend? I will likely need to get a hotel soon, as she wants to come with me.

We ALWAYS end up at a Hamptonn lol.

Probably not as much choice near that site as in Nebraska, however.

                              Recap:

Here is my video of my best runs from the event. On day one, I coned both my first two runs, with the second cone call coming as a surprise to myself. Anyways, I had to really shut it down on the third run. On day two I was more myself and stayed clean on all three runs, but on my last run when I actually pushed the limits, I lost a lot of time in a turnaround by pushing wide. I'm not sure why I pushed wide in that turn, as the car doesn't normally have a problem turning in like that. The only thing I could think is I was either a little too fast going into the turn, or the bumps in that spot in which I was turning in limited grip for the car.

Steve had a controversial cone call on day two that really hurt his results. We went through the audit sheets and books. We talked to Dennis about protest, and essentially, absent rearward facing video, you cannot overturn a cone call. With that being said, I think I'll be taking my old GoPro this offseason and coming up with a mount for a rearward facing video, just in case. Historically, I protested an off course call at Solo Nats in Lincoln without video and won, but we had a GPS map overlay of data proving the car rejoined course prior to where it went off, and by the rules that is legal. Why would we protest that? Well, Sherrod had a half second improvement on that run, yet was almost sideways at the finish, and he drove around the cones in the finish (untimed portion) and circled back around and rejoined two cones before where he went off. It was good for two positions in the class.

James was in the Grid when me and Steve were, and every time he drove by, I had to cheer him on. This distraction may have cost him a few positions in his class. LOL

Johnny and Nathan seemed to have a lot of fun at this event, and enjoyed meeting some of the national competition, as well as learning more about sport in general. I think we will be seeing them both back out at Nats in the future.

My thoughts following regarding my performance and car:

The car needs a little maintanence on the suspension, which I've been working on. (Waiting on shocks to get back so I can replace control arms and springs.)

My driving needs some work, as I need to keep an emphasis on being smooth in this car, and keeping it on the limit. It can be quite hard to keep this car on the limit without overdoing things. I have to be able to be aggessive out of the gate at a national event, and not cone away my runs. I need to be more like I was on day two here, and day two back at Bristol when I had my best finish to date in A Street.
