Forum will no longer be utilized!

After facing many challenges with utilization of this forum for many years, the board voted on the evening of 1/12/2026 to stop use of the forum in favor of the modern, more effective means.

Most of our general club organization will now be coordinated via Discord and results from our events along with schedules and announcements will be hosted on our main alscca.net webpage.

What does this mean for the old forum? Well, in short we are going to stop using it. This has been reviewed several times in the past few years, and there has been a desire for some of more tenured members of the club to have the historic content preserved. In an effort to preserve this content, it was discovered that we could not simply export the content to be placed in a modern website. This forum will now become an archive only forum and will not be monitored. If you wish to preserve any of the content, this is your time to search the pages to find it. There is no promise that this content will remain available forever with the fragile nature of this forum.

  • What am I (O.K. be nice)

Two questions: I believe my car would be ASP as it has roll bar, racing seats, racing harness, strut brace, front/rear sway bars (adj) and a fuel cell. No engine mods, but it has been lowered beyond stock (by the way I bought it that way as all that is overkill for me at my skill level). 1988 Carrera.

2nd question: What is the numbering convention as I am going to have my wife make some magnetic numbers for me (she has skills)? Can I just pick my favorite # (27 in case you are interested) or is there some kind of "number reserve system"?

Last question: since i will be novice would I have NASP next to my number?

This is a lot of prep work for someone who will not be allowed to do this until August, but I am pumped and want to get ready.

    Thanks, Mike

    Start here - http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=61

    Click on Solo_Categories.pdf

Find your category (looks like SP, because of the rear bar and lowering, maybe.)

Click on Street Prepared Category Classifications by Make.pdf

It looks like ASP, assuming all of your mods are appropriate for the category, and as a novice NASP would be correct. Remember, the classification letters only need to be about half as large as the numbers, which should be 8 inches or more high.

I don't think we have anything formal, here, about numbers, so both locally, and at bigger events, whoever in a particular class asks for the number first (usually online) gets it.

As the first link says, check the rulebook for more details. It's here (big download) - http://cms.scca.com/documents/Solo_R...Solo_Rules.pdf

    YMMV, RTFRB, OIMALTTA, CMSDS, etc.

Oh, and be prepared to have fun, without any more pressure than you want to put on yourself.

Chuck speaks the truth! But we seem to only use numbers under 100. When you add a second driver in your car you place a 1 in front of your # so we can better keep the peoples times correct. If you get 27, a second driver would be 127 and thus no mystery to those in authority about just who is driving! This system works well when the electronic timer quits and we have to keep time on 5 or 6 chronographs, because we have to meditate and extrapolate the average to find the mean time of the group, then vote on it.
And don't be askin' for no re-run, neither!

Evan Waugh is the keeper of the numbers, and I'm sure he has some to spare. Send Evan a PM- he will treat you right.

This is why I said RTFRB, I guess. The quick guide says Porsche Carerra 2 ASP (cut and pasted.)

I wonder if these cars got moved up, this year.

Rulebook says ASP, too, page 170, unless I'm missing something. This might apply to Kathy, too. . .

A "Carrera 2" is not the same as a 1988 Carrera. I'm no expert, but I don't believe they used the "2" designation until the first year they sold the "4" here (4 meaning 4wd) which I think was not until late 89 or 90. I'm a plain old 1988 Carrera which would be BS but my strut tower brace (!) and 1" spacers in the rear kick me up to BSP.

            FYI

            And also, LMNOP!

Since when is ASP awd only? I'm not up to date on the rules but 2-3 years ago I ran ASP along with John M. in the NSX.

Shouldn't we defer to the "Class Chief?"

EDIT :: The Carrera 4 was introduced in late '89 and the only Carrera available that year. the Carrera 2 was added to the line in '90. These were both 964 chassis cars and different than the 911 chassis 3.2 Carrera in question.

My bad, I read what you said wrong, I thought you were saying all, but you asked if it was awd/rwd.

taken from the online rule book. it might have changed class, or we could have been wrong for cathy. either way, their both in asp.

I am no longer the keeper of numbers. You'll have to talk to Matt or Jordan.

Register on Axware ORM (https://axwaresystems.com/axorm/calendar_main.php) and you can see the registered numbers at this link https://axwaresystems.com/axorm/reserved_main.php , or using the nav link "Reserved Cars." Look in your class (looks like ASP) and also at the novice classes (NASP) to make sure your number is clear.

                          ASP 27 seems available.

OK I checked. There is a AS with a 27 but no ASP ... so what do I do to reserve the number

By the way joined SSCA and I am now a dues paying member of the Alabama Region ... WhooYaaa.

Never mind I think I just did it. I registered my car and now I show up on the ALSSCA list as #27 novice ASP. Is that all I need to do?
