  • Sunday Devotional at the Autocross

It is my privilege this year to bring a short message to you at each Autocross. I hope this is a helpful and interesting feature at the events. It is my goal to be of some kind of service to everyone beyond just the message. As I always say, I am available if you'd like someone to talk to or pray with.

I have to miss the May event due to a prior conflict, so I will not be able to provide this to you then. This is the only event I will have to miss this year; I just hate that it is the SSSSShootout, as that is always a fun event.

However, I don't want to leave out this service. Surely there is someone brave enough to step forward and share what is on your heart for 5 minutes.

Please let me know if you are interested in doing this.

PM me on the forum or email me at: eedwards@netzero.net

Thanks for allowing me to serve in this way this year. It is both humbling and exciting.

Sorry, not this time. Photography is a new hobby for her, so she's trying to get the hang of it first. She doesn't even have a zoom lense (we just brawled over the spelling of "lense"...she says "lens"...I think we're both right after looking it up!!!) yet, so that may be next. She said she feels really bad not taking photos of anyone else this time!

She is correct. The "e" comes in when you plurlalize - one lens, two or more lenses.

                Ahh crap....not you too.

                lense
                noun
a transparent optical device used to converge or diverge transmitted light and to form images [syn: lens]

We are both right....though I will agree that "lense" is making the transition to "lens".

And since we are at it, it's "pluralize"

                  Marc,

Sorry, but I couldn't help it:

                  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lens_(optics)
The obsolescent spelling lense is sometimes seen, but Merriam-Webster's medical dictionary is the only major dictionary that considers this to be correct.

Didn't we have a former RE whose last name was Grammer? Kelsey?
                        And Eric, thanks.

OK, I'm guilty of a sagging L finger. It's been a busy weekend, and I was tired, I guess.

I've been involved on and off with photography since about 1968, and have yet to see the word lens spelled with an e at the end in any publication printed in the U.S. Lens seems to be the spelling preferred by the distributors of photo equipment in this country, as well as those who test and comment on such products.
