What a fun day at the ALSCCA AutoX!
Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help put on this event. Thanks Miles Crabbe for the speedy results as well as dealing with our tech issues. I didn’t catch the name of the other timing worker. Big thanks to Mike Cavanaugh for coming down and putting the super fun 40-50 second course together with the setup assistance of Jonathan Lovell and Steve Saunders. Thanks to Delanie Calhoun for coming out to help with registration. Thanks to Mike Wenning for covering the waiver station and sorry you didn’t get a chance to walk the course. WE HAVE TO GET MORE HELP FOR WAIVERS. Thanks to the guys doing roaming tech too. I didn’t get a name but you know who you are.
Thanks to Steve Saunders for helping get the truck n trailer onsite Saturday and Cameron Hall for helping get the truck back. ENTRANTS OF TWO DRIVER CARS, THIS IS A GREAT JOB FOR YOU.
A special big thank you to our TVR/TAC brethren for helping out with this event. I saw Ed Fisher doing the novice walkthrough and Mike Cavanaugh stepping in to do the worker chief duties. Chris Chatta and Cameron Hall had the Safety Steward duties covered as well as Cameron doing the sound control. We had some offenders and really folks c’mon! Loud pipes are for Harleys. Noise doesn’t mean power. Need proof? Top 5 cars were verrrrry quiet.
WE MUST PROTECT OUR AUTOX SITE AND NOISE HAS TAKEN IT TWICE BEFORE.
If you had as much fun as I did get involved with our club and volunteer to cover a specialty.
We offer training to ANYONE plus it’s a great way to make the events run more smoothly.
Why did I have such a fun day you ask? I got to do some PR work for the club and answer questions and take a couple of folks for rides. One of them cost me a DNF for having their hand out the window but that was fine. Hopefully they’ll be back with their cars next time. I had planned to use up my 5 year old Hoosiers A7s but they developed a tire rub since they were on my car last. Must be those extended lower ball joints I put on last year, so I had to go back to my old RE71R's and hope the tire plug held up.
I finished top 5 in RAW time so I guess the plug worked fine.
Stick that in your ear Firestone!
