Wish we could have gotten more runs! I would have much rather stayed later and had 6 runs before lunch and 6 runs after lunch. It's a long drive for me and the more seat time the better. I'd prefer to stay all day!
This is one reason I quit going to the ATL region, is they went back to half day events, it's not worth the drive for me at that point. Please don't go this route!- Jerry Ledford

Don't look for us to adopt it as a normal format. It was an opportunity given the low turnout to get everyone out of the 100+ heat index. We got all the timed runs we ever get (8) so I think it was a good call given what we had to work with. Especially with the monsoons that came through Birmingham about 3pm.Rod H

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Jerry...honest question. If we normally get 8 timed runs and that's worth the trip, what makes it not worth the trip to do the same thing in half the time?
In my mind your scenario benefits more than any other since you got all the runs you can realistically expect and got on the road hours earlier than usual.Rod H

The fact that all 8 runs are at the same time, and that we had plenty of time to get more runs in during that day.Originally posted by rodhx View PostJerry...honest question. Even at Wiregrass with the same low number of people they at least swap and do morning and afternoon runs with no lunch break, just go straight through. It gives you time to think about what the car is doing and maybe trying some setup changes.
I really just don't like doing all the runs in one sitting but there was also plenty of time before the rain hit to get people even more runs. It could have easily been a 6 and 6 day with no lunch break and we would have still be out of there by 2pm.- Jerry Ledford

I don't think it is reasonable to make a "no lunch break" decision on the day of the event. Folks need to plan for something like that whereas what we did this time was try to get everyone what they expected AND home early. In that we succeeded. Heat was the consideration, not rain. However, but for the early finish I for one would have been stranded in some parking lot waiting on the monsoon to end so I could get home on sketchy autocross tires.
Hopefully we will never see this format again because turnout will be too high to allow it. The program is not sustainable with 36 drivers at the Met.Rod H
