In addition to the Hot Rod Power Tour autocross opportunity we have also been hired to setup & run an autocross at Talladega SS for a Mercedes group on Sun May 20. Conveniently this is the day after our Points 4 event also at Tally. We need to setup a course on one of the Speedway aprons, not where we have been running. This gives us a chance to experiment on some new pavement. They will be running paced laps during the morning and then autocross after lunch. This is very similar to the Lotus event last year that some of us worked.
The most pressing need is for someone to step up and take charge of this event for us. That basically entails the bulk of running one of our autocrosses but without the paperwork. The chair will need to:
I am not sure if our folks will get a chance to run during the event. The Mercedes contact was checking on that and also checking to see if we need to provide cone chasers. If we have to provide course workers are fee for the event will go up and we will plan to pay workers. Update: they will be working course so we shouldn't have to worry about that.
Go ahead and post here is you want to work the event. We know we'll need T&S, course setup, start, & grid, with duplicates of each to allow a break. We'll also need a course designer if the event chair doesn't want to tackle that themselves.
UPDATED CREW LIST:
Saturday evening setup:
-Sean Yoder, course design
-James & Lacey Truett
-??
Sunday :
-Yoder
-Truetts
-friend on the Truetts who approached me at our last autocross
-Delanie
-Miles
-Rod
Looks like we're in decent shape but could use another couple of volunteers. It would be great if someone can get the truck & trailer back to storage in Alabaster after the event, or help get it back there.

- be point of contact with the Mercedes group
- recruit the work crew (could be as few as 8, but see below)
- set up the trailer & course on Sat 5/19 after Pts 4
- manage the event
- have the truck & trailer returned to storage
