ALSCCA has been asked to set up and run an autocross for the 2018 Hot Rod Power Tour. The event is Monday, June 11, at the Hoover Met with "hot track" from 12noon-6pm. We will need to be onsite earlier in the day for setup so everything is ready to go promptly at noon.
This is going to be very big event from both a participant and spectator standpoint. The Power Tour has booked most of the Met Complex. The autocross will be in the lower lot between the park and the soccer field.
Obviously a Monday is going to make getting workers more difficult than normal, but we need about 10 folks to commit to working the event. The Power Tour participants will not be working course and the course will be relative short & simple compared to what we are accustomed to. We need to provide:
I will be meeting with the Power Tour reps at the Met on Wednesday, April 4, about 4pm. I would love to have someone familiar with course design/setup join me there.
Timing really just means babysitting the timer and display board. There will be no registration, results, or scoring as we know it. They do have a few cars running as part of an overall Power Tour competition for which we need to compile times but those will run as a group.
We plan to pay our workers and, if we have enough to rotate, there should be opportunity to make some runs for those interested.
Conveniently our own Points 5 event is at the Met on Sunday, June 10 so the truck & trailer will already be on-site. We will need to return it to storage Monday evening.
Please respond to this thread if you can commit to working the event. It should be a fun & low-key day around a lot of cool cars, and it could be a big day to promote ALSCCA and what we do.
Worker List:
Rod Hardiman
Quentin Padgett
Cameron Hall
Steve Saunders
Jack Saunders +2
Miles Crabbe
Marty Mitchell
Jim Farris
Sean Yoder (Announcer)
