Anyone got a code reader for an NB Miata? I got a pesky check engine light and fuel smell in the cabin. Wondering if it's emissions related or failing coil time.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Well, Delanie hooked me up, literally. I have the usual Miata codes. Bad cat, rear o2 sensor and EGR. The EGR was cleaned and a replacement Catalytic converter and o2 sensors are on the way. Hopefully this will do the trick. I'm trying to drive a clean car for daily duty. Trying.John W8

Was it the infamous EGR code that apparently all 99s throw at some point? I never did completely exorcise that demon. Rerouting a particular vacuum line helped but nothing kept it away for good. The good news was that it didn't seem to affect the car at all other than an annoying light in the instrument cluster.Rod H

I read that bit about rerouting a vacuum line on miata.net. I don't understand that. My EGR is electronic. No vacuum lines attached.
My green 2000 had the same issue. EGR, O2 sensors, cat and failing coils. I have a set of Toyota coils to plug in but I'd need to add an aftermarket ECU to adjust the dwell. I'm not there on this car. I just want a nice clean daily.John W8
