  • Class Confirmation Question

I have an '07 Honda S2000. My only modification is the replacement of the rubber brake lines with braided stainless steel lines.

Based on what I read in the 2015 SCCA Rule Book my car can be run in the STR or BSP class with the altered brake lines.

Considering I will be on street tires, is it safe to assume that STR is the class I should choose to run in?

You could run in either if you wished, but yes, you will be more competitive in STR without r-comp tires.

STR is the droid you're looking for.

By the way, big props for actually researching to determine your car's classification. That seems to be pretty rare these days.

Thanks for the responses. I did actually take the time to download the 2015 rule book PDF and read through almost all of the allowed modifications by class. I am not a newbie at this, it has just been a really long time. I am shocked how much the rules and classes have changed in the last 10 years. Back when I was a regular at events (pre. 2005) cars usually only fit into one class.

Each car only fits in one class for most preparation categories (Street, Street Touring, Street Prepared, etc) but progresses through the categories. As you said, S2Ks go BS --> STR --> BSP, etc. There is overlap in the higher prep categories where mods are much more extensive.

STR is highly popular & competitive both locally & nationally, and the s2k is the dominant car most days. It will be a fun place for you to return to the sport.
