  • Need for a new helmet?

    Don't bother...

    Per the Dec. Fasttrack
"In addition, the SEB has approved an extension of eligibility for Snell 2000 helmets to 1/1/2017, so the “SA2000” and
“M2000” references in the above rule will remain in place for 2016"

Unless you want to take advantage of some nice deals on Snell 2010 helmets to upgrade from a 10-15 year old model.

Or, even better, we need lots of folks who use loaner helmets to spend a few bucks and get their own while they are on sale.

About half the loaners were going to age out without the change.

Awesome, I can wait another year. When it is that time next year, could any of you recommend a local place to try Snell SA rated helmets before I buy? Snell M is easy to find, but it'd be nice to have SA in case I want to do track events.

Most any time any of the amateur organizations is actually racing cars at Barber, one or another of the various safety equipment dealers has some samples available in the paddock.

road racing, karting, drivers suits, racing gloves, driving shoes, racing belts, driving belts

            and https://www.discoveryparts.com/

have all been seen at Barber. You might ask each of them if they'll be at here in the future. There's probably somebody who shows up with ChumpCar and/or LeMons, also, but I've never noticed.

In addition, Trackside Tim is usually at Road Atlanta for SCCA events, and Discovery Parts is based at Atlanta Motorsports Park, where SCCA's Track Night In America has been running fairly regularly.
