  • Points #6 - Jr. Kart Safety Steward Needed

FYI, I will not be able to make the next ALSCCA event due to a conflict with Rallycross Nationals, so someone else will need to do Jr. Kart Safety Steward in order for the karts to run. I will PM Hallie's parents but wanted to post here to see if anyone is licensed and can cover the event.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

We need to have someone local licensed for this. I appreciate Andrew taking care of this for us, but we need to provide him some backup so he's not always stuck with it.

Andrew what would someone need to do in order to get a kart safety steward license?

I'm more than happy to do it when I'm at the events. I really enjoy working with the kids. However, there will obviously be times when I'm not able to make it.

Getting licensed is really not difficult, and as previously posted I strongly encourage parents of youth drivers to get licensed so there is no concern about showing up to a SCCA event with no Youth Steward. Here are some links:

http://www.scca.com/downloads (Look for Solo Youth Steward Application - PDF) - This is what needs to be filled in and sent to SCCA to get licensed.

I'm more than happy to help anyone who wants to get their license.

We really need Hallie's dad (Brandon?) to get licensed for it. That way it's covered whenever she comes to run.

edit: Andrew was posting as I did...so what he said +1

Someone may need to look at the Barber site for kart compatibility/safety issues since we've never run there before. I have no idea what to expect.

I was out there last week and there's construction going on for the skidpad building. There didn't appear to be anything to hit, no lightpoles, no curbs etc.

I'm all for getting licensed to be a Jr Kart Safety Stewart. I would have already addressed this but life has kept me extremely busy. In order for me to get licensed I need to get a signature from a club member recommending me. It has to be one of the following:
Divisional Solo Safety Steward, Regional Executive, Divisional Solo Steward or SEB Member

Any one want to give me a signature?

I'm the RE and we have our club meeting tonight at Mini of Birmingham in their conference room (back near the parts counter). Meeting starts at 6:30 but I tend to be early. I'll be happy to sign it if you can bring it by.

I work tonight (I'm voluntarily on night shift while my kids are on summer break from school.) I work at the Cat dealership in Tarrant. I suppose I could take a very long and early lunch to drive over there unless there's a better option. How long does the meeting last? Would I be welcome to stay/participate? Anyway just let me know I leave for work at 1pm.

All ALSCCA members are welcome at the meetings. They are Board meetings but nothing going on is a secret. Mini closes at 8pm so the official part of the meeting ends sometime bewteen 7:30-8:00. You don't have to stay though.

Yes, Mini of Birmingham is just off I-459 on Grants Mill. Between the Audi/Porsche & Lexus dealerships.

Spoke with a lady at SCCA HQ today and she said they have processed and approved the youth safety steward papaperwork and are sending my new card out today. So things should be all set for the next event. I always try to get to the site around 7 do you guys need me there sooner?

That's great news Brandon! Getting on site about 7 will probably work but once there you may want to immediately head out to check with the course setup crew regarding possible kart adjustments.
