  • NvS: July 11th and 12th Registration

We are less than 2 weeks away from our annual North vs South competition July 11th in Huntsville and July 12th in Birmingham.

The Huntsville race will be at Milton Frank Stadium. If you haven't traveled to Huntsville for a race this is the perfect time to try it. They have an awesome venue for autocross and always make really fun courses.
Register Here for the Huntsville Event

The Birmingham race HAS BEEN MOVED to the Hoover Met!
Register Here for the Birmingham Event

This competition is to determine who has the best drivers between the two regions. Points are awarded for top pax and raw times as well as attendance. Typically the region that travels the best has won so we need as many people to go North as possible. These weekends are always fun so join us won't you!

    points go like this:
-top overall Pax gets 25 points, 2nd gets 24, etc. down to 25th gets 1 point.
-top overal raw time gets 25 points, 2nd gets 24, etc. down to 25th gets 1 point.
-top novice gets 10 points, 2nd novice 9 points, etc. down to 10th gets 1 point. A novice who also scores in the top 25 PAX or Raw (it's been done) earns both sets of points.
-Everyone who drives their local event earns 1 extra point
-Everyone who travels to the other site earns 2 extra points

At the Met we used 100db and I don't ever remember any enforcement at Oak Mtn. IMHO we should do the same as TVR/TAC. 96db?

I know 96dB will get you tossed at MF.

          I don't remember the limit 96 was a guess.

Signed up for the ALSCCA event. This might be the first time in a few years I can't make both. The Huntsville event is a big 'ol maybe for me right now. It'll come down to a game time decision.

Re: sound. We used the national tour default standard 98 dB warning/100 dB park it this weekend and have used it before at Oak Mtn. Our supps also clearly state we can ask anyone to fix or park a vehicle the event chairs deem as too loud. My recommendation for any future events at Hoover would be to use a 96 dB limit as Darryl suggested. There were at least 4 cars this weekend that would have had problems if the meter was in a better location: an s2000, two mustangs, and a Miata. Two others might be close.

Back on topic, I must attend the SeDiv summer meeting which is the Saturday of the North event, so like Jerry this will be the first year in a while I won't be able to travel.

I know we are all hungover from a long weekend of racing but we are only a week and a half away from this event. We can't let Huntsville win again. If we can get a good group to travel north we will win. Also, I posted the points structure to show that we NEED our novices to attend. Let's do this!!!!!

Yes, 96 dB limit at Milton Frank Stadium.

edit: It's really a shame that so many of the fastest ALSCCA cars will fail sound!

It looks like I'll be back in town. The car is in need of some attention after last weekend. Does anyone want to offer a co-drive that will pax well?

More people are signed up from Hville region for the AL Region event than local AL people. Sign up and have fun and support your local region. Every sign up helps the region with points. And go to the N race in Hville. One of the best areas in the SE USA! It is a win/win for all regions (but more for AL region)

Happens every year at this point in registration. We're slowly improving but y'all still have your folks better trained to pre-register.

Remember, a lot of folks down South don't even have indoor plumbing, let alone a computer and internet access.
