Anyone planning to head to Moultrie for the Match Tour on June 5-7? The Bowling Green debut of the new Match Tour format has gotten rave reviews. I would like to give it a try but would need a codrive to make it happen.

Can't believe we don't have more folks making this trip. Guaranteed 9 runs for 2/3 the cost of a Champ Tour. 6 runs on Saturday to determine class winners & contingencies, so you can leave then if you don't want to do Sunday's 3 runs + Match tour bracket stuff.
The locals are saying they have gotten permission to take down a fence at the Moultrie site which makes it a very large site. However they need a lot a folks to register in the next week or so of the event faces cancellation.
By the way, here's the registration linkRod H

I believe you're thinking about Pro Solos with question #1. Regardless, STU has a couple of cars already so you would be three.Originally posted by jledford View PostIs this one of those events where if they don't get enough people in a class they bump them to another class?
Also still a PAX'd based event right?
Question #2, not entirely. Saturday is essentially a one day Champ Tour deciding class winners and contingency determinations. Sunday's Match brackets rely on PAX results.
Personally I can't see a reason to avoid this format (other than not having a car, but that's a personal problem). The original "math tour" stuff everybody complained about is long dead.Rod H

jerry- it is not, you will stay in stu. the second day is pax'd based
top 8 PAX from each heat---->super shootout
next 8 PAX from each heat---->club shootout
random draw of some amount from each heat---->bonus shootout
moultrie is a decient site, i actually ran almost as many events with the Dixie region last year as i did with Wiregrass
the shootouts are a lot of fun. I won the Club Shootout in Atlanta last year and Wes placed 3rd in it. we put 37 competition runs on the POS2000 that weekend.

Maybe they should've changed the name when they changed the format to avoid the bad connotations of the "Math Tour".Originally posted by rodhx View PostPersonally I can't see a reason to avoid this format (other than not having a car, but that's a personal problem). So Saturday is just a regular auto-x and then some stuff happens on Sunday that is PAX based. Which means odds are still not in my favor to go to one as probably only get the warm up runs on Sunday and not make the shootout, which is just extra wear on the tires and car?- Jerry Ledford

If you don't want to go just say so.
How about this approach.....
You mean I can go to a national event (you know, like Dixie), spend less money, try to trophy in my class & maybe win some tires, and it is over in one day? Then I can get up Sunday morning and make three more runs on that national-level course, assuming I can afford the wear on car/tires? And if I do well during those three runs someone will tell me to run again, and keep telling me to run again if I do well relative to the field??
Yep...sounds like that sucks

if you're planning on going, you really need to sign up soon. I think they are required to have 120 by the 22nd. they have had 20+ people sign up in the past day for 70 as of today, so the momentum is hopefully picking up.
being born, raised and lived in the south all my life, I get the tendency to wait until the last minute, but this isn't one of those times.

I don't want to go because of the PAX stuff on Sunday. So it's just like a really expensive auto-x that I have to spend extra time getting there and extra money on a hotelOriginally posted by rodhx View Post

I am having a bit of fun with you, but I am genuinely curious. Would you go if it was champ tour, an even more expensive autocross with fewer runs that allows the same opportunity for a class win/trophy but without that apparently "terrible" additional pax competition?Rod H

I know you are, I was just having fun back.
Yes I would go to a Champ tour. I had plan to go to Dixie, Bowling Green, and this event until I found out they weren't normal tours.
And edit for context. I believe the top STU guy at Dixie was still 50th or so PAX, he wouldn't make it on Sunday at one of these events. Considering my underdog car and being almost 2 seconds slower than him I'd never get into the Sunday event so no real point in going. STU just isn't a great PAX class so the PAX events are a no go for me.- Jerry Ledford

That's what I guessed. So it's not so much the format or cost as it is the classification for your car and the resultant pax factor.
You could always take your daily and run it just like it is in STF. There's only one entrant last time I checked. If I still had the Acura that's what I would be taking.
