  • noob, rookie, call me what you want..

But I prefer to be called Truett. Thanks to everyone who answered questions Sunday and to Rob and Sam for letting my son and I ride along.
I do have a couple more questions now that I've had time to do a little research. From what I've read my scion FRS with a CAI, cat back, and rear diffuser would be in ST until I get wheels wider than 7.5? Then I would be STX?
I'm considering coming out this Sunday but won't have time to change my stock pads or fluid. Should I worry about my stock fluid temps? I'd really like to run my stock setup at least once before putting on the other mods I have waiting to be installed. Any and all advice is welcome as I've never solo'd before.

Your brake fluid will be fine. You will never boil brake fluid at one of our autox events; especially in a light car like yours.

I never had problems with the stock brake pads or fluid in my GTI. As for finding the correct class, the diffuser would be the concern. Functional aero may put you higher than ST.

I wouldn't say never, we cooked the brakes on the crossfire, yes 2 drivers in the summer heat there's a lot of factors that have to line up but it can happen

Thanks for the info, not overly concerned about ST or STX just want to be in the right one. Although it would be kind of funny if the diffuser was the issue. I only got it because it replaces the aero function performed by the stock muffler when you get a cat back. Don't have plans of being ST very long anyway. I'll do some more reading.

It sounds like you may be reading an old rule book or outdated information. "ST" was a class that ceased to exist a few years ago. The catback would be Street legal. The CAI takes the FRS to Street Touring in STX. The diffuser is not legal for Street Touring, so you're looking at Street Prepared or Street Modified, but I am not sure which.

Well it looks like the diffuser is coming off. They aren't even discussed until page 145 under modified, and the definition, "to accelerate air to create low pressure" doesn't seem to describe the one I have. Mine is there to keep my rear bumper from acting like a parachute lol. The weight reduction of taking it off, and keeping me out of modified, will greatly out weigh the air I catch in the rear bumper. Guess I should have got a cat back with an OEM shaped muffler. Thanks for helping me clear that up before I came out.

Definitely come race this weekend. Your car will be fine how it is. You will get way more runs than you will know what to do with and there will be a lot of experienced drivers to help you out.
