We had some solid contenders in some high finishing positions! Well done, guys/gals.

Casey had fastest raw until Leon's last run. Amod vs Fmod was cool to watch!

It's alway fun to have a new layout, but would have been better with the rally tires on the dirt road up there lol. Big thank you to the Tongsuvone's for the driving arrangements! C had the car setup great. Also thanks to mini Reynolds. After a ride with him I changed up my driving style drastically and dropped 1.5"

Do we have a final points for the N vs. S? Who winneded?

At the end of the trophy handout they did a preliminary count and it looked like the North won by a bunch ~1700 North to ~1100 South points.

They won pretty handily. Left our place with a lead, had 108 total entrants at their place, took all the novice points there... it wasn't close. We did a pretty good showing for those of us who made the trip but we needed a lot bigger numbers.

The two clubs' demographics make it an uphill battle for us and it's been that way as long I have been participating. They are heavy in Street and ST classes which pax better than our mix of ST, SP, & SM cars. This year's results from our event is a perfect illustration. We won the B'ham raw time & novice portion but their better pax and good traveling numbers gave them a significant lead going back to Huntsville. We needed many more folks to go yesterday, especially novices to get a shot at the bonus points for top 10 novice finishes.

Perhaps it is time to revisit the scoring rules in order to balance the demographics?

I'm not sure what we would do differently. You have to include both a raw & pax component to encourage participation. It's tough but the pax difference can be overcome. We pulled out the victory last year due in large part to a strong contingent that traveled to Huntsville which included several novices who brought home big points. This year they brought a bunch of folks to B'ham while our traveling group was too small to dig out of the hole.

The format is geared to encourage folks to travel to the other club's events and experience something other than just your regular ol' local event. It does a good job of that...we just need to recruit better.

We can take one trick from their event though. Seems they aren't as immune to timing issues as they'd like us to believe but I only noticed one ALSCCA driver get a rerun. Perhaps "timing issues" are the TVR version of NASCAR "debris" cautions...

As I see it, five things killed us in Huntsville this year.

                  1. Attendance
                  2. Attendance
                  3. Novice attendance (props to Justin for bringing a couple along)
                  4. We had a lot of guys in R-comp tire classes running on a rough surface. I know they're supposed to be losing John Hunt Park. Are they expecting to be back at Milton Frank next year?

                  5. Attendance

Last I heard they hope to be back at Milton Frank next year after giving the sealant a year to cure. Not sure where the plans for JHP stand.

That surface was....hmmm...."unkind" to us the R-comp folks. its hard to get grip when the surface stick to tires and move with it . would have been faster on snow tires perhaps. Didn't stop Heathster from going fast tho. I'll forever blame the surface and my headache for going slow. C

Wasn't just you r-comp drivers. For the morning runs I think the grip was, at best, no better than Oak Mtn's sealer. I had to run a significantly softer setup than we usually have on the RSX.

Hate I missed the South event.

The competition with Leon up North made for the most fun I've had getting beat.

Thanks to all who traveled and made it a fun day.

Yeah doesn't matter what tires you have if the surface moves with the tires lol. Just tried to turn it into a rallyx. Attendance kills. We need more. I noticed it mostly in grid. Co-drivers didn't have to nascar style the car to get it ready for the next run. We actually had time to set tire pressures and spray everything down and breathe. Even got to take my helmet off. It was…. NIIIIIICE. Made me dislike our tiny grid at bham very much when co-driving.
